One of the major spikes in difficulty for World 2 is the fact you can fall and die almost anywhere. In comparison, World 1 had very little falling hazards, apart from landing in the swamp. I would like to see a Zelda-esque mechanic where falling into the void removes half a heart and either puts you back at your last known good position or back at the checkpoint. I’d prefer the checkpoint on world 3, as getting hit by a jumping ram and only getting set a couple platforms back would cheapen the mistake. At least setting the player back to the checkpoint should be easy to implement. Falling into the void in Tribulation Mode can still kill you immediately.

Interesting idea. Although, it probably won’t be implemented, which saddens me.

Well, he did say the falls could retain their instant death in Tribulation Mode, and with all the other instant kill stuff in there, people would probably still buy the Infinite Continue Coin for that.
