Im currently stuck in world2 zone3 because i need to buy a better torch.
For that i first need to buy a bigger bag (250baubles)
I saw some guides on youtube and decided to buy the shovel first, but it seems this method of obtaining bubbles is no longer working.

Does this mean i now have to farm the same zones over and over again just to gain enough baubles for the bag, and then again for the torch?

The shovel isn’t as good as before, but is still good. Using the hidden dig sites you can get your 250 baubles in W1 quickly enough (W1Z3 get ~100 baubles in digsites before the first checkpoint). So yes you’ll have to “farm” W1 for the baubles, but no it won’t be an extremely long and grindy task. Spread it on 2-3 days doing the whole W1 and you be buried deep in baubles without much effort
Since dig sites are once per account per day now, getting all those baubles in one day would take much more cumulated time, though.
When you are familiar enough with the areas, you can easily get 400+ baubles doing W1 in less than 30 minutes.

Make sure you aren’t running on infantile mode either, as the dig sites won’t work.

I am hoping someone will get out an updated guide though with some new locations to dig. The old world 1 sites just aren’t as profitable as they were last time.

Yeah literally you can get 250+ baubles within one ‘dig-run’ of all W1 zones.
There are many video and written guides of all the dig locations and secret zones in W1.

EDIT: Yes all the dig sites are the same as they are in the old guides, however some now yeild less baubles I believe.

The dig sites of W2Z1 differ from the one on the W2Z1 preview in the last SAB release, too. Guides from release 1 should be followed only in W1.

Yeah. Most digsites are the same for World 1, though most also give less baubles. I think they added a few more digsites to World 1 too, but don’t ask me where those are.
