Q:

Title basically says it just curious to how this account magic find will change the mf sets players currently run and the time and money put into mf infusions runes ect.

1) will this new account magic find completely remove all mf from sets exp: 0 mf from mf armor, mf runes, mf infusions, mf sigils, and mf accessories ascended?

2) if one is true what will happen to the armor that people specifically bought for the magic find stat and ascended items and infusions as they generally cost more time and effort?

3) will this set all players at equal starting with new account magic find or will players that took the time to get magic find sets get to use those somehow?

4) if the magic find stat is completely removed and we don’t get anything for it will stats be random or pre decided set change; or will we get to pick what the mf stat or entire armor stats will change into?

These are just some questions that come to mind with new account magic find coming into play next patch; so if any other players have magic find question feel free to post here questions or answers only please no complaints about magic find or non productive comments as this is a q and a.

To quote the page,

We’re removing Magic Find as an equipment stat.

Magic find on Boosters, food, Guild bonuses, etc. Should not be changing, as those are not pieces of equiptment.

As for how Magic find is going to behave on sigils, runes, weapons, armor, and trinkets…. We don’t know. We were told that those individuals would be “Compensated” previously, but we still lack details on how.

EDIT: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Magic-Find-merged-1/page/2#post2713566 This is how it’s going to work. Still not sure about sigils/runes.

thanks that sort of clears it up that we can change the stats of armor, weps, and accessories. Seems that infusion will still be useable as well as food. It isn’t clear on the runes or if we will just get the stat change or will that 167% mf be added to account bonus or just drop off. so thank you for that post and I change my question to this:

1) will the 167% mf on the armor just fall off when we swap stats or will some or any of it go towards the account bound magic find since we had bought the sets specifically for magic find?

2) will runes/sigils be changeable as well or how will they work?

any other questions related to the magic find change are welcome as well.

Is this boost permanent or temporary?

It is a permanent boost given to your entire account, from what they have stated.

Translation :

Here are a few details about those changes in order to calm people down :

Weapons, Armors and Items with Magic Find will become account bound, lose their current stats and be able to be double-clicked to chose one of the stats.

For example, if you have a Pearled Staff of the Explorer, you’ll be able to double-click it to change it to any other prefix available. There will soon be a post about it on the GW2 website with full information, keep an eye on the website !

Pardon my english, thought this might be interesting.

To answer a few more questions:
•If you currently have listed an item with MF on the Trading Post, they will be returned to you, as they become account bound.
•Upgrade components that currently give MF bonus will be updated with new functionality.
•All existing drops and crafting recipes that have created Magic Find gear will be replaced with new stat combos.

So with that last post on mf we can see every question has been answered with the exception of one; at least that I can think of:

1) will those that have 167% mf on armor just get the stat change and start on even playing field as the rest or will that 167% mf be applied or partly applied to the new account bound magic find?

Thanks for all the answers and clearing up the questions about magic find as always if there are any remaining questions about the change feel free to ask

Since they are giving you something different (Any armor set stat you want) In exchange for the 167% MF on armor, it is HIGHLY unlikely that they will give you any free MF on top of that.

Everyone should be starting with the same level of account-wide magic find (that is to say, 0% before achievement bonuses) And will need to upgrade it via the various methods to get more MF.

That being said, I don’t know that for sure. But I would be VERY shocked if they gave those players a head start on everyone else, in addition to the other things they’re getting. That goes beyond compensation and starts dipping into rewarding individuals for having that gear type. I can imagine that would upset a fairly large number of players.

That’s a fair assessment just curious if they were actually planning on rewarding those that got the magic find sets for the sake of magic find; since most have the other sets already and just took the time to make a magic find set for the one purpose it had. whether they add a small set of the magic find to the account bound or let you salvage your armor into it if you got other sets. Like I said just a question as there is nothing we can do about it either way just be nice to know.

edit

to clarify its basically asking if the people who took the time to get 167% mf will just get another set rewarding players that didn’t have magic find sets on the same level ;(question not criticism) like ptv or if it is dungeon armor does that mean that you can only change it to another dungeon armor set?

player A 167% mf

player B 0% mf

after change both will start at 0? (minus account bound mf already there)
