Wow guys this is rly hard and their is even a hardmode!!!
Anyway i bet world 2 zone 1 and im proud of it (i guess it’s nothing). It was rly hard especially the riverpart…
Q1:
Has someone already bet world 2 / world 2 on hardmode? I had big problems with zone 1 but i loved it. It was much fun but sometimes rly frustating and unfair but still fun as hell.
But i think i talked enough.
Q2:
How is the difficulty for you? For me it was very hard (played with 1 friend) but it’s possible.
Edit(16.09.2013):
Wow guys, the difficulty was fine, it must be hard like this and so long. People who doesnt want it to long are just grinding and saying like “this patch is crap it’s no fun” cause you can’t grind and yes people are like this (saw many of them in gw2/facebook). Some fixes were fine and i enjoyed world 2 much much more than world 1 and i hope they keep doing like this. They player don’t even know what are they saying(example: Make it easier and shorter and give more rewards!!!), they don’t even know the consequence… no they ignore that.
Never thought it would have so many replies and views but It’s cause Josh Fore. with the awesome Zelda T-Shirt. Enough a… licked.
Would be nice if the thread get closed…

Yeah i’m still stuck on the rapids.
Can’t get past them. Everytime I touch the water the game FREAKS OUT… and teleports me all over the place and can’t make up its mind what to do with my flailing body.
Doesn’t help that I play Charr so my point of standing is GOD KNOWS WHAT!
The difficulty between World 1 and World 2 has too much of a gap.
Why does ArenaNet discourage… Charr?!
Like, I relize I have to play my HUMAN character just to tell WHERE THE kitten I"M STANDING!
And here’s something I don’t get.
Standing on Water Spout.
You jump off it.
Water spout vanishes.
Even though you’re in the air in a jump, YOU GET KNOCKED THE kitten OUT!

It’s too hard. At first I thought it was better for low end computers, but it’s actually really laggy. Too much jumping, and less exploring and thinking. Too easy to get hurt and stuff also.

I wasted a good 50 lives on Infantile mode. The jump pad/flowers on the first boss would not cooperate at all.
Definitely WAY harder then first. Going to take a lot of practice. The assassins are jerks too, even if you get stun off on them they love team up.

I believe the ramp-up in difficulty has something to do with the Infinite Continue Coin in the gem shop.

actually I believe that too. Not entering Sab again :/

The huge ramp in difficulty, most of it artificial (lag sensitive platforms, overly precise jumps, horrific and unusable camera angles, being catapulted back to the section start for a missing jumps, etc.) just sucked any and all fun of this.
I probably won’t be touching SAB World 2 until the difficulty is brought back in line to “playable”, as it stands, it’s insanely frustrating.

You know it’s far too difficult when even Infantile Mode is really tough. Seriously, the end of Rapids is tough and Pain Cliffs is -really- difficult even with the clouds. Assassins are really too OP ><
I eventually got to the third zone after -lots- of frustration (This is still on Infantile Mode), and have to grind baubles so I can buy the Torch to progress.
I’m not going to be trying it on normal mode -at all-, because I know full well I will just fail for hours, I’ll just finish it on Infantile and farm World 1 for Bauble Bubbles for the Mini Moto.
Seriously though, Tribulation Mode is meant to be the super-hard mode, not World 2 in general!

Zone 1 was wonderfull but zone 2 is just frustrating. They destroyed my favourite place to be in the game. I loved the humour and sillyness of it but this is just so unforgiving and way to hard. Its a sad day.

1 way to explain how hard and frustrating it is, is by comparing with Super Mario:
Zone 1: The Regular Super Mario World 1
Zone 2: World 2 of Super Mario, with 500 Bowsers with Rocket Launchers, Jet Packs, made of titanium coming from evry direction and that 1-hit KO you.
My question is: Why bother giving us a life bar in Zone 2, if evry mistake we make is pretty much death?
in Super Adventure Box: Back to School

It’s really hard because we’re still working out how to do it. But it is a lot harder than world 1, I couldn’t wait for zone 2 to end.

I died like 31 times in world 2 zone 1 before i finally gave up… I was really looking forward to this after a really stressy day, but it just made me more upset :(.
And those jumps onthe river are just impossible… I cant even hit the turtles… Im not going in unless someone carries me or they make i easier :(.

Yeah. World 2 is way too hard, even on the normal mode.
The lag of the rapid section, complete with close quarter cameras and quick time jumps. The assassins who take 4 hits to kill, but can take off 1 heart per attack. The falling log puzzle that’s actually impossible to cross if wait just a hair too long on one of the jumps. The death traps that are not obvious at all. The freaking Koi Pond that is apparently bottomless….
It’s all adding up to a lot of frustration. Especially with the very infrequent checkpoints and falls that consume 1 life instead of 1 heart.

No worries, just go buy the Infinite Lives Coin. Then instead of a nice, fun and gentle grind, you get to play Nintendo hard jumping games that are still an RNG nightmare, oh and are account bound so even if you’d like to repeat them there’s no benefit in doing so.
Its like ANet WANTS to get people to leave their game out of frustration and poor design.

What is hard to me:
Having to make jumps where if I miss its pretty much insta death.
Having to do jumps that have to quickly be done to reach the other end (at the river with those geysers)
Having to use a weapon that is so bad at aiming, and I have to be in a plane so weird that most of the times I just hit for pure luck.
Not telling me at the beggining that I am going to need to get that weapon.
That weapon requiring ammo that is not replenished unless you do world 1 all over again, and that if you are midway through the river section of impossible jumps and you run out of ammo, GG, you can leave to go and get more ammo.
Assassins placed in unforgiving places that will most of the times mean 1 hit KO, while they take 4.
A raft that I have no space to dodge the enemies that knock me out of hit meaning 1 hit KO.
Frogs that camp you and placed in very hard spots, they suck you in, deal you damage, shoot you out and before you can get up, they suck you in back again and you only get out of that by pure luck.
A life bar that doesn’t matter since 1 mistake = nockback to death.
And I’m only on Zone 1.

I find it strange people would complain about lag in SAB, as SAB is the only place where I get stable 60-80fps.
Really the only issue I have with SAB that affects difficulty, and this hasn’t changed since April, is that sometimes it is difficult to perceive whether a jump can be made or not (I don’t know if it is because jumping works differently in SAB or because most surfaces seem to have very generous edges, so sometimes a jump that doesn’t look possible actually is).

way too hard. As mentioned it’s a huge gap between w1 & w2. I just wonder what will be the world 4? Are devs will trying to make a hardest 3D-platformer game?
It’s look like designers of world 2 was trying too hard. I think they need a good massage & some stress relief..

I’m also going to chime into say that i think this is far too difficult…
I’m not a newbie to jump quests, but i am new to SAB, but these are just stupidly unforgiving, and when you are playing in a mode called ‘infantile’ you reall don’t expect to have your balls broken ver and over.
Fighting the frog cost me 5 continue coins, and my party lost pretty much the same before we figured out the pattern…
I wouldn’t mind if i was playing hard mode, but i’m not… And this just reminds me of all the things i hated most about old-school gaming.

1. The zones are too long
2. Jumping on a flower can throw you into another flower and kill you
3. Crocodile hit boxes are too little
4. Too many enemies on all maps
5. World 2 spike traps are not fair, especially when you get to places where there are lots of cheap ones.
6. World 2 does not have nearly enough checkpoints and repeating the gong run is painful
7. World 2 – bringing the fish from the fountain, up the temple – too difficult due to lots of cheap spike traps
8. World 2 – clouds are invisible unless your brightness is at 0.
I could go on and on and on. Normal mode was made far too hard. Even infantile mode is far too hard. The game is no longer challenging, but rather simply a cheap memory game.

You mean the room filled with frogs and wall traps? Bomb the frogs from a distance so you don’t get pulled to your death. Then if you’re on baby mode the arrows will guide you through, and on normal mode you can check the walls for thin little devices.

The main frustration for me and the guildies I was doing it with was the rapids in the river a bit after the raft ride. There were just such a ton of bugs with it (people getting stuck in the terrain and having to exit to the hub, people getting teleported all over the river both forward and backward, etc) that we lost two people just there because they couldn’t be bothered to even continue trying.
One thing I think would greatly help is to simply remove the continue coin function and just give everyone the equivalent of an infinite coin. As it stands now, it feels like the inf. coin is almost a requirement in order to be able to enjoy SAB (unless you farmed tons and tons of baubles back in April) and I probably heard 10+ people saying it they wouldn’t bother with it anymore after they ran out of coins.
The thing with games like IWTBTG or Cat Mario, you can just try and try again – it’s part of the genre so adding it as an option from the cash shop just feels like a cheap move that reduces the enjoyment for us fans of the genre.

Haven’t yet tried tribulation mode, but world 2 zone 1 was okay for me. Maybe a little bit too kitten the last geyser section, but other than that I feel like the increase in difficulty is okay.
World 2 zone 2 costed me a lot of lives and sent me back home near the ending, but most of the deaths are due to playing carelessly (pay attention for the traps guys).

I do mean dart traps. There are dart traps that are positioned very unfairly.

I feel like this W2 was made to force people to buy the infinite life coin, the hitboxes of crocodiles and turtles are too small and hard to hit, those assassins and ninjas are placed in very frustrating places (such as that birdge that you have no space to dodge left or right, they come from both sides and knock you back to your death, and the boat part), the ranged weapon to hit the crocodiles consumes score, making it even harder to get life coins back.
It is just like an old arcade machine where evrything starts easily to make you think: “I can do this” and then in world 2 it escalates so quickly just to suck your money to get you to keep playing…

okay, know how you have to push the blocks to block dart traps? Well there’s one at one point that shoots you the moment you jump over one of the traps. Then at one point there’s a trap that shoots you the moment you reach the next floor in the temple. Quite a few temples have too many mobs and traps to be honest.

Well, after all the events like the queens gauntlet an the portal invasions, i guess i was just expecting something a little more casual to appear…
When i saw 2 sets of acheivements, i thought that one would be easy, for the casual players, and one would be hard, for the hardcore players.
But instead we get a hard set, a REALLY hard set, and a god kitten impossible set. I only have 3 continues left, and i really have no desire to go back in there and lose them all because i’m not fortunate enough to enter the levels with prescience.
At the very least there should be a ‘training’ mode. No wonder asura kids grow up to be such arrogant know-it alls, if they used this machine to learn

I recall from April that certain enemies are kind of intended for certain weapons, ie. if I recall correctly crocodiles in particular are meant for the whip, not the stick… so if the hitboxes seems too small that may be why.
Similarly the camping frogs are obviously intended to be bombed (and yes I get the feeling you are supposed to either guess or learn the likely locations).

Not to minimize your complaints but here’s my take.
1. The zones are too long
You are complaining about too much content.
2. Jumping on a flower can throw you into another flower and kill you
You can be more careful about the direction you are facing when you land on them.
3. Crocodile hit boxes are too little
You need to use tactical stratagy to find the spots to hit the from, just like old platform games.
4. Too many enemies on all maps
Learning where enemies are and how to thwart them is part of the process of progressing in old platform games.
5. World 2 spike traps are not fair, especially when you get to places where there are lots of cheap ones.
They are all visible. The darts shoot out of dart boxes. The assassin training grounds are meant to teach you to carefully observe your surroundings.
6. World 2 does not have nearly enough checkpoints and repeating the gong run is painful
The gong run is painful. I’d like to tap that difficulty spike down.
7. World 2 – bringing the fish from the fountain, up the temple – too difficult due to lots of cheap spike traps
Not sure what you mean here. If you are talking about the dart traps, there are none in the fish temple.
8. World 2 – clouds are invisible unless your brightness is at 0.
I’ve tested on a variety of monitors and haven’t seen this problem.
I could go on and on and on. Normal mode was made far too hard.
You may be right. I think it’s too early to tell. Some number of people hit a little resistance and quit and come to complain about it. And some number hit that same resistance and are inspired to overcome it and they are in the game right now doing that. I don’t have a good sense of those numbers are right now. I’m more than happy to adjust it when I have better data to work from. Thanks for your feedback.

World 2.
Zone 1: Rapids were buggy. It took me roughly 20 lives to go through and combat the random teleportation, air that acted like water, and rocks that acted like water to pass it. That was the only -painful- part for me in Zone 1.
Zone 2: Dart traps can only be spotted at the last second. I’m probably not even half-way through the zone, and I’ve spent about 54 lives because of the stupid dart traps. I hate exploration through death.
I want a refund on continue coins.
This list will be updated as I progress.
Edit: I am streaming my painful run here at twitch.tv/clumsywizard. Developers are welcome to watch. These dart traps ARE invisible. Because I run over a certain spot and then suddenly.. DARTS EVERYWHERER!
Edit 2: Consider this a walkthrough too.
