Wanted to voice my only real qualm with SAB, which is: the bauble grind. Now, I don’t mean grinding to buy the skins, fine, let that be. My problem is with the relatively high cost of the in-SAB upgrades. It got to me when I realized I couldn’t proceed in World 2 Zone 2 without buying the torch, which costs 400 baubles. If this is supposed to be an homage to old-school gaming, why the high cost and currency grinds? If I’m not mistaken, the norm for old-school upgrades was simply finding them, and the upgrade itself was a reward for your sleuthing prowess, that and being able to progress. Instead, we’re forced to go back and repeat levels we’ve completed just to build up enough currency to continue. I always thought of SAB as a way to get away from the grind that is already GW2, now that same philosophy spilled over into it. Any chance this can be changed?

I just wanted to come in here and say I agree.

I want Josh Foreman to read this thread and know that many players are trucking along in SAB and suddenly their momentum is completely halted because of an artificial gateway that forces them to grind for no good reason.

I was doing SAB just fine until now I have to find a way to backtrack and get 650 baubles out of thin air. Getting a torch is one thing but it’s sly that a bauble purse is required as well. The hitbox technical issues and difficulty balance is one thing, but this longevity padding gateway non-sense is the last straw. A lot of the design decisions made in World 2 shows a great lack of craftsmanship, which is shocking because World 1 was great fun.

While I agree that those items should be found, getting the items was not overly too hard in the previous SAB event.

That being said, for those that are just doing SAB now, actually have to grind out those 400 baubles. The dig spots REALLY helped out back in April. It wasn’t that hard to get 500 baubles, usually you could get about half that in one or two zones of world 1 in one run. Due to the changes they made to the dig spots though, you will probably get that much on the first run, but will have to wait a day to get the same amount for the second run.

They also do have something similar to what you are stating. The elite, I believe it was called Motto’s Breath, was somewhat difficult to find and get too. I didn’t find it until I started to do my achievement runs(first couple runs were just for fun). It would be nice to just find them, but its not so difficult to just farm the baubles needed..

oh wait..
forgot about that once per day, per account bullkitten..
