hi,
here my suggestion for future Super Adventure Box worlds: Please make the different worlds accessible independently of each other.
I would like to play world 2, but unfortunately I never could get past Toad Boss of world 1. (it’s in part because of lazyness). But now I cannot play world 2. And with world 3 of SAB coming some day in the future, I will be completely locked out of new SAB content. This is completely unlike the usual GW2 style as I know and love it.
Why not allow players to enter world 2 (and future worlds) independant of what they played in the past…

Because then that would reward your admitted laziness?
Think of it like a Mario game or something. You can’t play World 2 without finishing World 1. Heck, that goes for every game ever made pretty much.

That’s not how games work.
If you couldn’t get past the toad boss because of laziness, I’d guess you’d be far too lazy to deal with the difficulty and length of world 2. Zone 2 of world 2 takes longer than the entirety of world 1.
Also, you need unlocks from world 1 to complete world 2. In the future, world 5 will require unlocks from world 4, world 3 and so on. Allowing people to skip simply wouldn’t work.

Laziness and the gong-tower don’t go together lol

hi,
maybe you are right and in Mario-like games, you first have to complete level x to play level x+1. In this case however I regard the worlds more like different dungeons. I can play Twighlight Arbor without having to complete Ascalonian Catacombs.
Also: In a few months we may see SAB world 3 for, say, 30 days. Then players new to the game, who never played world 1 & 2, are required to play more and more old content only to be allowed to play the new stuff.

I guess ArenaNet could implement cheat codes to skip worlds teehee like the old games xDD
Entering any world without completing the previous ones is classic and won’t be changed. Who wants to go to the final dungeon without defeating each single boss in the legend of zelda?

You’re searching for a missing princess and your search takes you to world 1, then world 2. Skipping would make no sense. But world 2 is so much harder to complete than world 1 that if you don’t make it pass the toad king, you’re not gonna make world 2 anyway. Learn to read the Toad’s emotes, learn to target the gem and the king itself right and you’re set. This boss really ain’t hard at all. You can see his every move coming several seconds before it happens.

hi,
I heard SAB will stay until Sept. 30th, so I will probably try the Toad King again Thanks for the advice how to defeat him (now that I also found a good source for a continue coin in world 1). I can now learn to dodge his attacks. Bah!
But my argument still stands, that with each future update the new content becomes more and more difficult to access, so it will eventually preclude new players from playing it.

With the current design, item acquisition would cause problems in skipping certain areas.
We’re referring to Mario games to explain level completion requirement? Do we remember the 8-bit Mario games properly?

Yes and no. World 1 can be completed in a day easy. And when I say a day I mean a 2-hour sitting tops (excluding 100% achievements, we’re just talking completion here).
World 2 will require a full day’s work to complete (~45min for Zone1, 90min for Zone2, 75min for Zone3, assuming you are attempting them from scratch without a walkthrough).
If you look at it this way, really we’re talking about 2 days to catch up and then 28 days to complete the new World(s) when they come out.
I find this to be a manageable workload.

SAB does not need a level select. It can be completed fairly quickly. You can do it incredibly fast and still get the story (there’s isn’t any btw like a lot of the older games). All that’s really left are achievements and an achievement is something that requires work.
