I just spent lots of hours getting a Storm Wizard Super Pistol skin, just to realize that the cool “pew pew” sound doesn’t play when using an off-hand pistol with the Mesmer. In the video below, the Thief uses his auto-attack and his number 3 skill, and the sound is produced:

For Mesmers, I would’ve hoped that at least the number 5 skill worked, but it just does the normal Magic Bullet sound. Maybe because the bullet doesn’t come out of the pistol since it’s magic? I dunno, it’s pretty disappointing. It would’ve been cool to hear your pistol phantasm use these guns too.

When equipped, could the Super Pistol sound overwrite the normal sounds for the Mesmer pistol skills?

Phantasm uses its own pistols, not pistols based on what the player is using, so I don’t think that should have the SAB sound effect on it. Wouldn’t really make sense.

Magic Bullet definitely should if it doesn’t already, though. It may have the sound effect but just be masked by the fairly loud and distinctive sound that Magic Bullet already has attached to the skill though, I couldn’t say for sure.

I know that “The Prestige” (torch) also has its own distinct sound effect, and that sound effect seems to mostly overshadow the SAB sound effect, though I “think” the SAB sound effect still happens as well.
