I read the notes, it isn’t clear what happens to gear I OWN.
I see that MF has been incorporated – I get that, but what can I do or what REPLACEMENT is ANET going to give for the GOLD SPENT on MF gear, not knowing the stats will “go away”.
Does that mean that my gear will change stats?
If so, it won’t compensate me for the gold I spent no matter what since the Magic Find will not be replaced – 20% isn’t the huge amounts we have with ALL magic find gear equipped.
The 45 CHARACTER limit for “titles” is terrible – and the forums are not searchable – not by me.

Your gear will become account bound.
Upon double clicking you will get to select a new stat type for your gear from a selection given.
Plus the +20% you mentioned.
AFAIK, there won’t be any compensation for gold spent on MF gear. Sorry.
You will be able to change stats like legendary weapon but only once.

You will be able to change your MF gear to any other “craftable” gear. Glad I held off on making a Knight’s set or armor- I can make my current MF armor into that after the patch.
What mildly bums me out is that right after the patch, I won’t be able to have the same MF% as I currently have with all my MF armor, weapons, and trinkets. From what I understand, I’ll have to salvabe a lot of blues and greens for the luck boosters.

Armor, weapons and trinkets with magic find will become account bound, you’ll be able to click on it and select any other non magic find stat combination, except for celestial armor (that one will just have magic find removed).
Runes, sigils and doubloons switch to different stats (copied from Dulfy’s):
Copper, silver, gold and platinum doubloons will give boon duration.
Rune of the Pirate will grant power instead of magic find.
Rune of the Traveler will grant all stats, condition damage, boon duration and movement speed.
Rune of the Noble will grant condition damage and might.
Rune of the Scavenger will grant condition damage and life steal.
Sigil of Luck will grant a random boon on kill.
Magic find infusions (as well as food and other temporary MF boosts) will just work as they do now.
And that’s about it.

“Saving money” doesn’t imply powertrading.

They already stated they will become Account Bound.
You didn’t read the previous posts correctly.
The posters comments were meaning that people would craft/buy MF gear now. MF gear is currently Half The Cost of (example: could be more or less-ish) Berserker’s Gear- and after the patch, then Choose the stat combination of Berserker… Thus saving money. Because the gear cost less now, and will ultimately have the stats they want, after the patch.

But if gear is already soul-bound (say you crafted a second exotic set), should it become account bound so you can at least use it on a different character and not now be stuck with a second useless set?

It’ll be funny when they find the items are account bound and can’t be sold….
Apparently some high end exotics / ascended are NOT changing to Account Bound, so you this won’t be a free way to pass them to another character, either.
