Old SAB weapon skins
Will they be available again? It was told that they won’t be coming back so I kept my Super GS skin just to see how it devaluates completely
err.. how the hell does that DEVALUATE your GS skin? you just said that you were told they wont be coming them and yeah they wont. SO if anything the value of your gs skin will only go skyhigh! since they can only be bought from the tp =)
I think he either means that:
a) He bought it and was waiting for the price to rise to get a lot of gold, with this the price will normalize as it is avilable again (the longet that times passes from an update, the more expensive its items get, check the Greatsaw).
or
b) That he will feel his GS has less personal value as everyone will be able to get it (though to be honest, everyone had one before). Probably this isn’t the case of OP, but there are players around that if someone can get what he got, they get mad at the world because it makes them look less pro /shrugs.
I’m happy they’re returning, and I’m waiting to see the new designs to see if finally my pistol will be SAB or Aetherblade (or if I will wait even more)
ahh okay, well he wasnt so clear to me. But yeah pity the gs skin wont be back i hope it does come back though..
I really hope Anet won’t be recycling any skins.
I hope we do see old skins back. I got them all the first time, would be nice for others to get them who just joined game.
i haven’t logged in, but i was reading that something has happened to the prices because of speculation. Is that the devaluation the OP is talking about?
Originally I was against the SAB skins being re-used for the World 2 update back when SAB was originally released, but considering that it’s been a few months and I only ever see the GS skin once in a while out in the world, I don’t particularly mind if all yearly skins are re-used and added to every year.
Once events are over and new stuff comes out, everyone shelves the old stuff except the people that can’t find anything better or truly like the aesthetics. … Except for the hologram wings. I see those things everywhere.
peasants had no bread and who responded: “Let them eat brioche.”
I think the old ones should come back. They’re “completing” the set, so it makes sense that the whole set is available (and also during following updates in adition to anything they want to add, as those are iconic for SAB).
They’re adding even more weapons (inspired on the 2 current bosses).

The old SAB skins are still quite plentiful and relatively inexpensive on the TP if anyone wants them. There really isn’t a need for them to be reintroduced with this installment.
It wouldn’t make sense to not bring them back. Although, I’m wondering about what new skins there will be.

Josh Foreman said before that the old skins will pretty much not come back when SAB comes back, but new ones will appear instead.
I also think that the old skins shouldn’t come back. They are not expensive on the tp so if anyone wants them they can just buy them.

(i already have a skin so i think no one else should have the opportunity to get one, so i can sell for 4k gold the one i have in the bank)

Sounds about right.
The wording on the release page isn’t very clear, and “complete your collection” could be interpreted both ways. Personally I would prefer if the Super skins became available again (they’re allowing people to complete the World 1 Achievements again, so why not the skins?), but there does seem to be enough supply to go around that if you really want one of the old skins, you should be able to obtain one.
My gut feeling is that yes, the Super skins WILL be available again, since now that the King Toad and Lighting King skins are released, everybody will be clamoring to get those instead.
I don’t know. Josh said they probably wouldn’t come back, but that’s all it was, probably, not 100% certain. The wording saying “complete the set” could be taken either way, it could mean the full set will be available for purchase from Moto meaning that includes the old weapons, or it could simply mean the full set now exists in the game at all and the old ones would still remain on the TP only.
As for whether they “should” come back or not… I dunno. Most of the other event skins are available in one way or another now, the only ones that seem the exception are the Fused skins. However, they’re all quite costly either via the TP or via large numbers of Black Lion claim tickets (or RNG on coffers, in the case of Dragon’s Jade). The previous Super Skins are already available on the TP and probably will be for some time considering how many people farmed them, and they’re not even that expensive by comparison to most. So it doesn’t really seem necessary to bring them back via Moto, and if they were brought back they’d be the least valuable of any of them by far (even more than they already are).
Probably won’t matter since the ascended weapon skins appear to look pretty good.
We can see the ascended weapons already?
There’d be no reason to use wording like this if all of the weapon skins were going to be available:
“Complete Your Super Weapon Set
Moto’s prepared for another round of fundraising with the rest of the Super Weapon Skins!"
So I’m going to err on the side of them not returning for this installment.
Since SAB is recurring there’s nothing saying the full set won’t be available at a later date, perhaps next year during its anniversary, but it’s sounded like this run is just going to be what was absent last time.

If the screenshot’s any indication then they’re just re-colorings of the previous skins, which is disappointing.

All that work to create them and not bring them back? I do understand that people do prefer to keep them rare but it does sorta stinks that they would not allow others to enjoy said items just because a few want to horde them and resale for an exorbitant price or they believe their skin would be devalued because more people can get them (which I never fully understood; if you like the look why should you care others have it and like it too).
Though, I do wonder, if they don’t bring them back does this mean other skins like the Halloween ones won’t return either? Well at the very least I will be making my ghastly grinning shield into an ascended weapon so I can enjoy it on both my guard and warrior.

I really don’t understand the concern here. SAB skins are some of the cheapest in the TP, cheaper than the Jade skins in many cases, and there’s a huge supply of them. They’re not rare at all, which is part of the problem.
Nearly every other weapon skin set in the game has some sort of exclusivity associated with them. SAB weapon skins are arguably some of the best looking in the game, but there were so many introduced into the economy that they’re common, which of course in player minds = not special.
I’ll be glad if they don’t make a return this round so that they can attain the uniqueness they deserve.
Though, I do wonder, if they don’t bring them back does this mean other skins like the Halloween ones won’t return either?
People really need to quit comparing SAB weapon skins to RNG box skins, they’re not even remotely the same. If you want a hint as to whether or not Halloween skins will be returning then look at the return of the Wintersday and Fused skins, those are a more applicable comparison.
How often do you actually see people with SAB skins though? Out of maybe every 50 players, I will see one or two with SAB skins. Heck, I see more people with Legendaries than I do with SAB skins!
Ease of obtainability does not necessarily translate into “everybody in the game using it”.
