Princess Miya and Moto have to be the same person… I mean just look at them. Even the mini Miya is obtained by putting a dress, tiara and wig on Moto. So the real question is… what is Moto up to?

Moto is secretly a cross-dresser.

just clearing this up, how can moto apear right after miya is kidnapped if they are one and the same …

Princess Miya could be 8-bit Moto in disguise, and the shadow in the short story seems to imply that.

Could you explain the dialogue that led you to believe that? It’s obvious they look the same, but it’s hard for me to really draw conclusions about that when it’s set in a world that doesn’t even exist. Or so we’re told. Also it’s intended as an homage to older video games where possibly character models were reused all the time as well, so there’s that.

At the end of the short story, as he sees Princess Miya and thinks on how she reminds him of a certain previous krewemate, he pauses for a moment and spots an ominous shadow in his shape behind her. He blinks, and the shadow is gone. It’s around to be read right now.

Back on initial release, I figured Miya was a thinly veiled Moto because Moto was doing the development by himself and couldn’t afford to hire a model. Seems that at least part of that may have been close to the mark.
