I beat Zone 2….woo?

I think I spent 300 baubles buying about 34 lives that it took to beat it.

Does it feel good? Not at all. I’m just happy to have it behind me.

I won’t be doing Zone 2 again. Ever. It’s not fun.

It’s the worst time I’ve ever had playing Guild Wars 2. Which is a shame because World 1 was some of the most fun I’ve had playing GW2.

Things I hated about W2Z2:

- Ninjas were very irritating. Especially the sword ninja. It isn’t fair that they can run into you and deal you damage (and knock you back, possible to your death) while attacking you. Slingshot/Whip is useless against sword ninja because of how fast he runs/dodges. Star ninja isn’t a huge problem like the sword ninja is.

- Too many ways to fall to your death. In a city built in the sky, it seems really evil to have almost every enemy knock you back.

- Dart Traps are ridiculous. They shoudn’t auto-kill you, period. This is supposed to be fun, not infuriating. Dart Traps should knock you back and deal 1 heart. Anything more than that and someone can spend their 5 lives in a few seconds if they aren’t insanely careful. Dart Traps + Ninjas is just not fun. It’s mean, cruel, and shouldn’t be in at the same places at any point.

- Jumping puzzles in the sky, worst concept ever. Let’s give the players a huge jumping puzzle that they have to make it across an area, and if they fall at any point, they instantly die.

- Too much instantly die. The entire World 1 have one instance where you could fall to your death (zone 2, getting to the secret store under the trees). World 2 has them around every corner. With ninjas, jumping puzzles, flying fish all trying to knock you around, it’s uncalled for and simply unfair to the players.

- So few baubles, yet a need for bomb/slingshot for the entirety of the zone. You can say that there are baubles in chests and digging spots, but digging spots are impossible without using a guide and chests require you to carry the key to the chest while attacking ninjas and dodging dart traps, while not falling to your death and losing the key permanently. Sword ninjas give 5 baubles each, but I was wasting 5 baubles with the slingshot just to kill them.

- Because there are too few baubles scattered across the world, almost all the enemies drop a single bauble, making it very hard to regain hearts. You might as well just suicide to get your hearts back. And shops aren’t as available because they are hidden so much in this zone that you really have few options to refill your hearts.

If I had to rate the difficulty of the zone on an 1-10.

World 1 (all of it) – 4
W2Z2 – 20

It’s seriously that much more difficult. If you have any doubt about wanting to try it — don’t. It’s not worth your time and effort. You’ll just end up rage quitting and being mad for the rest of the day.

I’m struggling, no, just completely failing with W1Z3.

I’ll second that, I wasn’t a big fan of SAB (if they made your character 8 bit, we can talk) but this, along with TM is just stupid…

Yeah it’s long (w2z2). I actually got stuck inside some terrain near the near end so have to redo the whole thing again…… though I might wait for the next patch that fixes up more bugs……

Collect all the baubles and secret rooms with a friend in that zone and THEN come talk to me about how horrible it is. 4 hours spent on that…4 horrid hours.

You can spot the dart traps easily if you just check around the doors and pillars, you don’t need to speedrun the whole thing, just be careful, and then speedrun it when you know where they are.

Red ninjas have a small hitbox, and they are very annoying yes.

I heard the horror stories before I tried this zone, so I first did it on Infantile to get the powerglove ability, and then used the shortcut eagle in Normal mode. That might work for you, too, if you just want to complete it.

The Shortcut eagle is a freakin’ crock.

“Let’s reward the players that go online and read guides, while laughing at the other players that will never know about the shortcut.”

If a zone needed a shortcut, it was designed purposefully to be too long.

Shortcut Worm says “hi”.

Thing is, you don’t need the Shortcut Worm. It doesn’t save you any real time.

Supposedly Shortcut Eagle saves you a good 30 minutes or something.

I couldn’t even use shortcut eagle on Tribulation mode. While I could use his service, I just got teleported to the very beginning of the whole map.

My checkpoints were still up though, but I had to suicide to get there.

I know, which is why I made my post to debunk your “If a zone needs a shortcut, it’s too long” statement.

The shortcut eagle is there for people who explore, and go off the beaten path. He’s actually a lot easier to find then the short cut worm.

To the ninjas – it took me a while to figure out but the hitbox on their sword is deceptively long, but also very narrow. They punish you for running away, but if you engage them head on, strafing to the side to dodge, you can usually get them down no problem. IIRC there are only a few places where you take on two at once, and never more than that. Many of them you can just run past.

There are a few dart traps that are obvious trolls (There’s one outside the toad room wedged right behind a pillar, which I guess is technically visible >_>) but in the places they are most present you have time to go very slowly and spot them all. The gong run was the only part that felt more like trib mode then normal, but they nerfed that in the last patch and you can still cheese it. (Kill yourself and wait for the gong at the bottom).

It is way to long for one sitting. Fortunently the developer has said that in future he will make the main routes shorter with more alternate routes for people who like to explore.

There are many places where you are taking on 2 or 3 ninjas at the same time.

i actually found the eagle on my first Playthrough of zone 2, a few hours after sab launched. I think it’s a matter of perception, the eagle’s not that hidden.

What actually is a bit harder to spot are the secret rooms, especially those that give no clue for their whereabouts, only at the end of (seemingly) dead ends.

I can outrun a centaur.

What is wrong with people and dart traps. If they would just knock you back you would not be scared.
I made my way carefully through the trap houses and always had to laugh when there was a trap that still got me regardless how cautious I was.
It felt like the a fight with the developer. Can he manage to get me again or am I smart enough?^^
