Moreso, my question is, those laurels I spent on the +20% magic find, what happens there???? Do I get a refund of laurels? Does that 20% get applied to my account wide magic find? Or am I just gonna get screwed? I really hope a dev responds to this cause I really wanna know.
Push for more info! I was going to make an ascended back piece with MF but since the patch will make MF void I was very curious to hear what will happen to my old MF gear. There’s Winter/Traveler/Explorer/Wayfarer gear Anet could convert gear to have other stats but what good does it if you already have that. Wayfarer could easily become Soldier if you change MF into power, however, like I said what am I going to do with a second Soldier set.
I hope we will be able to salvage MF gear and get mats for ascended gear. I don’t like the idea to salvage my entire MF gear and getting a few ectos and mithril ore. The infusions are another thing.
I really hope Anet doesn’t screw this up… or there’s going to be a few very upset people.
What happens to all magic find gear, ANET? I have a set for farming that I’m upset if I will have to just… Destroy. Can a developer answer any of these questions? What about the infusion on my amulet as well? Thanks.
I think they change the MF with some nice stat, game gonna be so much better not being force to use some lame MF gear to farm anymore
The MF stat on Celestial gear is more of a bonus…all of the stats are already balanced around not giving too much of an advantage, so I would honestly expect that the MF stat is just going to be removed.
How could they compensate for a non-combat stat that’s being removed on gear that already has all of the other stats represented?
The only thing I can think of would be just giving people who have Celestial gear some of the account MF consumables to make up for it in a permanent sense.
I’d be okay if they just chopped the Magic Find stat off and left it without a replacement. We’ve been farming all this time short a stat in favor for rarer loot chance. So the rarer loot chance it now account wide, why should MFers gain a free bonus?
(This of course is assuming that they’re smart enough to convert player’s existing character Magic Find to the new account-wide formula; and not just make everyone start with whatever account MF achievements have given them.)

Yeah, I’m curious about this too. I’ve got a full set of crafted armor, as well as the celestial amulet. On top of this, I’ve got the two ascended explorers rings and the There with Yakkington back piece. Would hate to lose 4/6 of my ascended items as well as armor that took a month to craft b/c they have MF on them…

Your MF% will not change (much if at all) they are removing MF from gear and putting it as permanent/comsumable bonuses account wide.
I’m also curious to what they will be replacing MF on gear with. the sets have to have something in its place.

Perhaps but what happen to armor stats? If they just remove it explorers gear will be rendered completely usuless having 33% less stats. It might as well be removed from the game. Which of course create a whole bunch of issues with your current gear.
I seriously hope Anet will give us more detailed information on what’s going to happen with current items/gear/weapons using MF. If they do another karma jug mistake despite making the promise to inform the community about changes like this, I will be very disappointed.

Why are you worried about the 33% stat reduction being useless later when it is that way now?

Most likely option is that the gear will become whatever the closest equivalent spec is. So for example Explorer’s gear (MF, Power, Precision) gear will become Zerk (Power, Precision, Crit Damage), Wayfarer’s (MF, Toughness, Vitality) will become Soldier’s (Power, Toughness Vitality) and so on.
I just hope they keep “There With Yakkington” available for crafting – I always wanted it for the RP value rather than the MF anyway

Because people spent time and money making magic find gear. They spent consumables to craft armor and jewelery. Now that aspect of the gear (the only reason they made it, disappears). They should be able to go to a vendor and “turn it” in for gear of another stat type. This is on a piece by piece basis, not account wide.
This also affects weapons including exotics that they just released with MF attributes. Why would Anet release new weapons with MF (a few weeks ago during the champ update) knowing they would remove MF attributes? I thought that the day I saw the new weapon skins and stats…
Then there is magic find to infused armor that was purchased with laurels. Those laurels should be payed back, since they cost more than any other infusion. I have faith that Anet has thought this through somewhat. I just hope that it is done fairly.

My guess is they’ll just change the MF stat with something else. Would cause too much aggro if they made the items disappear. If i were anet, i’d look at the class of the peep and just make the item berserker or rampager and return it to Bound on equip so people can sell it as most have MF as a backup set right next to their berserker/rampager/cleric/knight’s set.
As to the 20% MF infusion, it’ll probably be reverted to the other option which is 20% extra gold.

They mentioned before about some kind of conversion from gear to the account system. If they keep this true, then the MF gear user will get a bonus to account MF right away. Thus they lose very little and the “very reason it was made” isn’t lost. Although, I’d be okay with them just removing MF from the gear and boosting the remaining two stats to meet other set standards. This way would be a bonus to me as just a boost to easy the getting of new gear – which isn’t all that hard to do.
I too, wondered why they announced the end of gear MF to only still release new gear with the stat on it.
As for Laurel related boosts, I can definitely see the need for some kind of refund. However, I don’t think it’ll even be considered looking at their previous record.

They’ve already said existing magic find gear will give you a replacement for the stat and boosters will be unaffected. I’m just sad I didn’t use exotic magic find armor on one of my character so I’m going to have to use 6 transmutation crystals to keep the skin
Doesn’t make sense to me when they say people with MF wont notice much difference. Anyone can spend like 50s and buy a green MF set off the TP and get up to +150% MF, is that going to be the new baseline?
