I’m wanting to know, as we’re now getting a new tier of weapon, what will happen to the ‘expensive exotics’ (Some players call them Pseudo-legendaries) such as Aether, Mjolner, Volcanus, Vision of the Mists, etc. Those exotics take a hefty amount of materials and money to create, I think it would tick off a portion of the Guild Wars 2 playerbase if their 1000g Mjolner suddenly isn’t up to par with the top tier anymore.

Well, they will still be bought for theirs skins and transmuted, like it happens already. I think nothing will change.
When you buy any of them, you are not paying for the stats, but for the skins.

Won’t change. They’re bought for skins not stats.

My guess is that they won’t change, but then again, they did include a recipe to upgrade the Triforge Amulet to Ascended, so who knows?

Triforge didnt have a skin.

Since all crafted items of the same level got the same look ( pearl etc ), all ascended weapons will have that style.
And that style is pretty unspectacular so im not afraid of them skyrocketing in price ( because of the skin ).

Agreed. It was the players choice to spend the ridiculous amount on an exotic skin. So I’m going to assume they’ll be willing to grind out an ascended variant to put their expensive skin on top of.

To me it’s more… now I’ll have to spend a bunch more gold/gems to keep the look that I had before. That’s kinda lamesauce imo.

You merely WANT to do it. Plus its super easy now to get gold in the game, and transmutation crystals aren’t that expensive anyway.

Engdame GW2 is about looks. People already paid for their look. Some people paid RL $ for those stones. This isn’t exactly the best for people that did that and I can understand why they would be miffed (to put it politely).

As far as gold being easy to get and crystals arn’t that expensive… the price of gems keeps going up. It would cost you 5.68g/100 gems right now. If you bought a pack of 25 it would cost you 45.44 gold (or 1.84g each stone). Many of us have several 80’s. That adds up fast and is not chump change… even considering how “easy” it is to get gold now. If you disagree I know a LOT of people that would LOVE it if some random stranger gifted these to them

He wanted that look, and has probably already payed for it. And now to keep that look he has to pay for it again.
