You can find three songs which have different effects when played.

So I encountered the log and it says “You found the song of the log” but doesnt tell me how to play it. Whats wrong here?

Look on the log carvings, 1-2-3, try playing 1, 2, 3 with the Wooden Whistle at that location and you’ll see what it does. It may require you to play the melody twice or thrice.

Pretty sure that it takes two plays. The other songs have 6 notes.

In case it doesn’t seem to be working, the song...will light up a bombable wall or floor section with Moto's face. You'll need to be fairly close to the section for this to work.

The flute is the king. Gatekeeper Lullaby and Shatter Serenade makes zone 2-3, so much easier. Also, the secret where you get the lullaby also gives a really nice shortcut for the end of zone 2 as well.

After getting the flute and finding that shortcut, I think the current round of SAB is way more fun, because it removes most of the truly annoying bits (for me), cong temple is still a bit annoying though, but suicide is always an option there.

In case people haven’t realized The Gatekeeper Lullaby can permanently close any "knockback mouths", however, only one at a time as far as I can tell. Shatter Serenade is obvious, allowing you to skip one of the more annoying puzzles.

I’ve never been able to get the flute to work. Not even the simple 1-2-3 song. I try and it just lights up 1 over and over again despite me pressing 2 or 3 X.X

I do by killing myself after hitting the cong, skipping the whole thing by jumping on top of the arrow trap to get over it to push the block is no longer possible afaik, after one of these patches.

Edit: or is there a third method to skip it?

The song of ice breaking is by far the most useful song for Trib mode 2-3. You literally get to skip the entire icicle/push block puzzle, it’s awesome.
