If you notice in the blog post they say they are demo’ing the game, gathering metrics and hunting bugs during the month of April. They do plan to have this in as a permanent mini-game, but this month is information/data gathering.

That boy is a prime example of so-called gamers today. All he cares about is the graphics “omg the graphics awwwweeeeeeesomeee”

For me? Because if you turn off your brain a little so you’re not aware who Rytlock is or Tyria is, you could almost believe it was a commercial for a retro game…

…that is, until he whips out a floating cube for a console and then you just laugh hysterically.

…kind of reminds me back when the PS3 came out with a commercial with a floating console. That was just funny.

X-TREME 80’s RYTLOCK is my new favorite character. You have to bring him back for a cameo at some point, for whatever reason. This commercial is the greatest thing ever — nay, perhaps the greatest thing possible. The only thing that might tip it above 100% is if Rytlock started rapping.

It’s great because it’s an almost perfect reference/parody (depending on how you look at it) of all the absurdly cheesy ads 80’s & early 90’s games had. Remember, a lot of people here grew up when ads like that one were running on TV, it’s a fun nostalgia trip for us.

8-bit seems to be this year’s theme (Deus Ex, Far Cry, League of Legends), but I think ArenaNet has definitely won this one.
