Well there’s two enpty slots on bar, maybe you could make gloves with retractble nails that could be baught and then used. That way you would need to press a button to let go, while pressing space to jump with good timing. Lets you “Hang out” on the wall a bit so that players that don’t like challenges can take their time to do it.

So I just started practicing this dodge-jump thing since there’s so much hype about it. It seemed pretty easy if I pressed R to start running, then moved my 2 fingers to V and space. Worked almost every time, although it’s awkward to use auto-run and have to manually stop yourself from running. Using forward (W) + V and space was harder for me to co-ordinate though.

A tenth of a second is a hella long time. That’s like a 10-frame window to hit two keys. Lots of fighting games have 1-frame dash links, that is, 1/60th of a second to dash and attack to make a move combo with the last. And it has to fall within the specific frame, i.e. not one frame earlier or one frame later.

Now you know why fighting gamers always seems to be complaining about online lag or screen lag.

Most gamers have programmable mice and keyboards, it would be nice if they would just tell us we can use them. Its not like a couple button macros are “cheating” or an unfair advantage or anything.

What about.. CTRL + Key as the activation for dodge jump? Would that not be allowed because two key presses achieve two key presses but the programming causes the presses to occur at a specific time? I have no clue, haven’t researched their policy since they disallowed Combat Mode.
Anyway, I can do the dodge jump if I try but if hardware is preventing this for some people I can see why they’d want to be able to do that. 2 keys being held = 2 key presses being done at a specific time seems as if it wouldn’t violate the policy.

I have the title easily and didn’t -have- to dodge jump at all and as Josh Foreman has said there will be no jumps which require it. I don’t think risking it would be cost effective.

Plants, As far as I know are still, still bending toward
the light! And if we dance, until the heart explodes,
It’ll make this place ignite!

I also got the SAB titles without dodge-jumping.

However, once I found out about this technique from an ANet post, I quickly saw how much easier some of the harder jumps became (like the one in World 1 Zone 3 where you go behind a tree-stump and have to make a very long jump from a venus flytrap to get a bauble in a corner). It also allowed me to speed-run through zones much more quickly.

So yes it’s not required to get the titles, but it definitely makes it easier (at least for me).

I did some experiments and 1/10 of a second still fails badly here. Results got better with 1/100 of it, dodge jump never failed. Seems pretty hard to hit dodge 0.001 seconds after jumping… could legalize this macro at least… because my keyboard keys are big and somewhat take an effort to be pressed. Also if you consider dodge-jumping as 1 action and not 2 separated actions it could remedy this issue.

I set my dodge to be the middle (scroll wheel) click of my mouse. I found it easier to dodge jump like this and practice every time I am just traveling. Do this and you will be able to dodge jump on command 99% of the time.

I actually started practicing this months ago after seeing someone do it and thought it looked awesome…

Thanks to this thread I’ve been using dodge jump a lot now, and I get it right about 9/10 times!
