I lost all my lives and was offered the chance to buy a continue coin for 50 baubles, I bought one, but nothing happened. So I hit “I” to open my inventory (thinking I needed to click on the coin to consume it) and was promptly teleported back to Rata Sum upon trying to open my inventory.

So I had to start all over again, and I was out the 50 baubles (the continue coin was still in my inventory).

After you purchase the Continue Coin, you need to speak with our friendly NPC to use it. The reason you got sent back out into Rata Sum was because this “continue screen” has a timer on it, like the good old arcade ones. You can see how two spiked walls are trying to crush you, and molten rock are coming up below you, which is basically the timer.

When I went back inside, the vendor wouldn’t take my purchased coin. I had to get another one from the vending machine to go in.

Once I got in, my party was still there, all foes were still defeated, but I had to run from start to catch up.
