Sigh… I have ran it as often as I could muster up the energy to and I have managed to collect enough bubbles to buy 11 weapon skins across my characters. during this time I have had a grand total of 1 skin drop in the form of a longbow. Some people get all the luck

Still, I love the Instance and have no regrets spending a lot of time in there

I have enough for 6ish skins now, and I have only gotten one drop as well. Luckily for me it was the greatsword though.

Is that 4 stacks of Bauble Bubbles? Egads, thats a lot of SAB. I’ve only got 1 stack with around 175 Bubbles (though I have spent 175 bubbles so far on 3 weapon skins and 1 backpack skin). Also, are all those weapons drops, making it at least 6 dropped weapons? Wish I was that lucky, I’ve gotten 2 random drop skins total.

Don’t know if there’s such thing as “too much” though. If you enjoy it, why not keep at it. Doubtful you’ll ever need that many Bubbles (unless they introduce really expensive rewards… permanent SAB-themed tonics for 250 Bubbles maybe?) but if you’re doing it for fun and not just to amass more and more bubbles, then I see no problem.

Yeah, this. We will re-balance our reward structure for the next release so hopefully we don’t have a situation where people are doing ‘work’ to get something they want. I know the problem is impossible to solve completely, and there is some sort of side-door enjoyment SOME people derive from grinding a path over and over in pursuit of a distant reward. But it’s not our vision for SAB.

I’ve purchased 3 weapon skins + 1 backpack, had 2 skins drop and sold them, and I have a little over 200 Bauble Bubbles stored up after all that. Cant decide if I should spend it on more skins or just buy a lot of Obsidian Shards / Crystals with the rest, in order to prep for the legendary weapon grind. I’ll probably continue to run it daily till the end of the month and spend em, just in case they pull it at the end of month like they originally planned.

Excellent to hear! I love the SAB, but the reward structure is such that I have to grind it methodically with multiple toons to get what I want from it and that really kills its fun factor.

Would not the easiest thing to do be to replace the Baubles and Bauble Bubbles with a new currency? Or make then only usable on the non-weapon cosmetic skins while new stuff gets it’s own? Or have I misunderstood what you have said.

I’m still dreaming about SAB runs. It was a nice change, replacing the Tetris dreams I had since 1995.

It’s worth pointing out that making the rewards limited time only items you are contributing to the problem of people feeling the need to grind over and over to get them.

I’m at about ~600 bauble bubbles, and have had 4 skins dropped(GS, sword, longbow and staff). I sold the first 3, stupidly, before Josh had mentioned that the current skins would probably not be available when SAB returned in the future.

I plan to save the staff to sell in the future, and am going to buy a scepter, backpack, staff, and sword with my baubles. 250 will be saved, and whatever is left over will be used for shards on the off-chance I ever go for a legendary.

I try to run Zones 1 and 2 on 6 of my characters each day, though that doesn’t always happen. Sadly, I haven’t had a skin drop in a long while now.

I run each character through world 1 while digging just enough to have 500 baubles by the hedge maze in zone 3. 6 bubbles for the daily chests plus 2 from the converted baubles.

Got about 3 skins so far, hanging on to them.

Got pretty good at getting through world 2 zone 1, and I appreciate the sneak peek, but just one bubble at the end while you have a full bag of baubles isn’t worth more than to plan your attack for when SAB comes back. >:)

Finally I recalled the stopgap solution of a great princess who was told that the

That is a lot of bubbles… and other stuff.

I played a lot, got 100 bubbles saved up for the next release, found two skins and sold them recently for a good haul. Now with the realization that the skins currently available may not become available again I feel the need to start playing again. The price I sold, while good, isn’t even half of what it looks like they will soon be going for and I want to get in on that.

My current total as of tonight is as follows:

Bank
1163 bauble bubbles
1 Super Staff
1 Longbow
1 Shortbow
3 Swords
5 Shields
1 Greatsword

Spent
50 bubbles: Staff for my elementalist
50 bubbles: Scepter for my elementalist
25 bubbles: Backpack for my elementalist’s staff build
25 bubbles: Backpack for my elementalist’s scepter build
1 Greatsword, sold on TP

In other words:
1313 bauble bubbles, 13 skins. My personal drop rate is slightly higher than 1/50 (I’m averaging 7 bubbles per run due to picking up 250 baubles minimum in my route)

I can post a screenshot of my bank sometime tomorrow, when I wake up.

What tactic do you guys suggest? The W1-M2 digging speedrun?

I did the math, and for me, the most profitable run is all 3 zones, and hitting the most convenient dig spots in zone 2. I usually end with about 275 baubles. A few tips:

1) Watch a video. You’d be surprised how many jumps and shortcuts you don’t know about.
2) Use the slingshot to take down King Toad. You can do it in 2 jewel shards solo, and only costs you about 30 baubles.

Most people don’t like to run zone 3 because they don’t know the fast way to get through the zone, and kill King Toad. It’s just as fast as zone 2 though. If you want more detail, feel free to PM me in game. Takes me about an hour and a half for all 5 characters, including all loading times, use of storage, etc.

Use bombs. Like right away as soon as you jump down to the King Toad boss.
You defeat him in 30 seconds, use only 10 baubles and can literally destroy him before he uses his first tongue attack at times.

Yeah nice vid, thanks Azure! Also thanks for the bomb tip.

There is an even better vid showing a lot of shortcuts you don’t use, but I can’t find it at the moment. Yours is good for digs spots though, although you do miss a few that I get, and you do some I think are out of the way. A strategy I use that I haven’t seen in any vids is completing the entire final area of zone 3 on the upper level. You can use the large horizontal log to traverse the entire area up to the boss.

Edit: your bomb strat isn’t working 100% for me. Used about 40 bombs and hardly did any dmg. I must be doing it wrong though because I killed him quickly the first time I tried using bombs. Oh well…

You have to be standing middle of the middle lily pad. Facing him directly when you throw them. You can only damage him when he’s not in the amulet stage or else the amulet blocks the shots. You can still take out half his life with bombs before he uses his first attack.

@Cexy: you’re gonna be a rich rich!
@Devilsmack: yep I’ll be online a lot tonight.

For my runs I don’t do any chests or dig spots or anything in zone 1. In zone 2, I get the following dig spots:
1) Waterfall in the first area
2) Narrow hill up against a wall after first checkpoint.
3) Hollow log just after #2
4) In front of the shop, in the same area
5) Behind the leaf you need to jump on to get out of the water (before the worm)
6) Just before final checkpoint, near a tree. I do it after I beat the boss, to make use of the countdown timer.

Then I have a very specific path I take through zone 3, only picking up a few baubles (similar to zone 1). I finish zone 1 with about 25 baubles, zone 2 with about 295 baubles, and zone 3 with about 275 baubles (after using slingshot to kill King Toad).

I’ve tried getting 500 baubles by the end, and also tried not picking up any baubles or dig spots. The ‘500 bauble method’ provides less baubles per second (BPS), whereas the ‘no bauble method’ provides the same BPS as the ‘275 bauble method’, however it takes less time and yields less baubles.

I do mostly the same run, but instead of digging your spot 6, I dig the spot at the end of the worm tunnel (20 baubles in a spot after you land)

With the 20 baubles that are kinda hard to miss in zone 1 and the 15 baubles from the boss chest, this gets to about 245 baubles per run of zone 1/2, and the remaining 5 are generally covered by extras picked up here and there (such as the 2 right at the start of zone 3, and the ones I get inside the wormhole which I don’t count towards my stable total because I don’t always hit the same ones and don’t go to any effort to pick them up)

6 runs done so far today. I got lucky and found 3 skins (GS, Staff and Sword); 2 more runs to go, but I’m doing those when I wake up later.

I started playing around the beginning of April, so only focussed on this for about a week now, daily on 8 toons. First to get weapons for my 3rd toon, a mesmer, how-ever when I heard about the weapon skins I figured it would make a nice way for a starting buck. No luck yet though.

Few questions I wonder if I can ask them here.

1. The weapon skins drop from the glorious chest (after cage boss 1, 2 and the frogboss) right? Or have I been doing something horrible wrong.
2. I’ve got about a stack left-over after buying the 4 skins for my mesmer, what would people’s recommendation be for the other ~stack+ bauble bubbles?
3. It’s confirmed the skin will not return in any (possible, hopefully) future SAB?

Thank you in advance. Good to see many people got quite some skins!

- 1 backpack skin bought with BBs
- 3 weapon skins bought with BBs
- 2 drops that I sold on the TP
- 50 BBs sitting in my bank. anticipating a pistol for next time around so I can’t decide if I should save em or spend em on 1 last skin (since they’ll be gone permanently after today).
