I think there’s a much better option than either of those. Just make it a recurring event. make it annual or semi annual and switch up the rewards each year. as it stands now if it stays a permanent fixture the skins will be worthless. Hell, at this rate they’ll be worthless by the end of the month anyway. I love the gameplay but after one or two rounds of full exploration there’s not much left to do with it except grind for skins which makes for a terrible addition to the game as a whole.

if instead the rewards were phased in and out and new content was added each time it became available the overall experience would be far better.

Here’s a better idea: Continue to expand it. It makes for a fun, side-quest distraction. No reason for the DEVs to squander resources on something like that. A single instance jumping puzzle that’s holiday-themed I can understand. This is a homage to times long ago; the rewards are a mere bonus.

I am for it as a recurring event. It would make a fun diversion, particularly at times where there is no proper event (like april). Every time it is re-opened, it can be expanded a bit, with new rewards and the like.

No more non cosmetic world event rewards. We haven’t forgotten the Ancient Karka.

I don’t see why having the skins easily-accessible makes them “worthless”. Do people really need an exclusive skin that badly? Does having the skin accessible to all make it look worse? Guess that means 90% of the skins in the game are worthless.

As for being a “terrible addition” because its boring after a few times… if you’re doing it over and over again in short periods of time, then yes. There’s a good chance its going to get boring for many. But if it were a permanent addition, you wouldn’t need to do that. Get bored after a few times? Well, stop playing it. Maybe in a month or two you’ll get the urge to play it again, and it’ll be there waiting. Its a change of pace, not something to be done constantly. If its permanent you don’t have to worry about grinding non-stop for skins, because you can work towards it at any pace, playing it every once in a while and eventually get there. The fact that its a month-only thing is whats causing the need to grind so hard, because it’ll be gone so you have to do it now or never.

I understand your point.

But from my point of view, I look at the skins and look at which skins I want for my character/s. Then work on getting those. It really doesn’t take all that much time to get enough Baubles to get the skin you want for yourself. Heck people already had skins within hours of it’s release. So even for a casual gamer, one month should be more than enough time.

So people are farming the thing for something else. Probably to get drops they can sell on the AH? If that’s the case, maybe just make all Super Skins you can get on SAB Account Bound. Then do the same thing they did for Fused/Halloween skins and make different versions available thru the store/Black Lion Chests?

Kind of but not really. It’s not about me. I have a skin, and i would love to see how it fares in the future, but overall its not going to make me a billionaire and i really wouldn’t be too heartbroken if it turned out to be worthless in the end.

my problem with keeping the content available permanently is that its somewhat out of step with the way past holiday content (and likely future content) has worked. A holiday comes, you partake in the activities, if you put enough time in you get some unique rewards, and then the holiday goes and takes the activities and rewards with it. Later on you display your rewards as a way of saying “hey remember the time this happened? wasn’t that cool? I’m glad I was there”.

It sounds like the plan is similar to what i said (though i can’t speak to the future rewards) in that when they have new content available they’ll open it back up but until that point it’ll be removed. I have no issue with this because its being done for the sake of content, not JUST so people can have another year to get their skins. It took me roughly an hour and a half of work to get enough baubles for a skin. I grabbed the two I wanted and was pleasantly surprised to find a rare skin a chest. If you can’t find that much time over the course of a month to get what you want then what business do you have demanding it become a permanent fixture?

The fact of the matter is that nobody wants it to be permanent so that they can go back and enjoy the four levels currently available over and over again. They want more time to get skins. If you’re asking that more content be added as well (as some people are) then that’s awesome and i agree, i would love to see more content. But ultimately rewards from events such as these are rewards not only for finding the time to earn them (again, not that hard) but for earning them during the period in which the event was active. Making a special event permanent devalues the rewards on more than just a monetary basis. If everyone has what you have then what you have is no longer special.

Here’s an idea if you guys ever decide to make it a permanent part of Tyria. It’s a quest in which the main focus is the reveal of the final version of the Super Adventure Box.

Moto has struck a deal with the Consortium and has decided to make it a pay to play attraction in Rata Sum, the Consortium advertises it and gets 15% of the profits.
However, the Inquest have gotten wind of the SAB and see it as an opportunity to convert young progenies to their cause as opposed to Moto’s teaching’s of friendly adventuring. After the big reveal, Moto notices some odd things happening to the progenies that come out of his creation, however he can’t seem to access the game code to find what is wrong. He immediately notifies the player that he requires their help. The player is then sent into the SAB, only to find that the Inquest have manipulated the game code to make the progenies whack innocent Shopkeepers and follow orders from an eerie princess. Virtual Moto guides you to some problems and provides instructions, and eventually you find an Inquest Official disguised as the eerie princess. Once the official is thwarted, Moto can access the main code bank and reverts the game to it’s original state. As a matter of thanks, the player is free to play in the SAB free of charge, much to the chagrin of the Consortium.

It seems to me to be a pretty good idea, you guys can tailor it to your specifications. Just let me know if you guys like it.

I want it available so I can play it any time I feel like. I certainly wouldn’t complain about having more time to get skins at a leisurely pace either, but I do want it to stay just to play it as well. Its a very enjoyable experience (for me anyway) and quite different from the normal GW2 gameplay, so it’d be nice to have it there waiting any time I want a change of pace, not just for this month.

I really don’t understand the “I only want it because its special” mentality. When I decide what skins I want to use, I decide that based on how much I like the look of the skin. If a skin looks cool, seeing another player using it doesn’t make it look worse. Nor does being rare make a crappy looking skin look better.

There are obviously people who only want gear as a “status symbol” regardless of whether I understand it or not, though. But even so, why does every new item that gets introduced needs to be that way? Why can’t some of the new items just be permanent and readily-accessible? There’s already the Halloween, Island, and Wintersday toy skins that are all unobtainable except through the TP (and for the Halloween skins in particular the price is extremely high) and going even further the Wintersday gem store and likely the new Fused weapons (once Frost and Flame is over) that are 100% unobtainable through any means. The only new items that have been added and are going to be readily accessible are the new Guild weapons. Can’t there be a few more permanent additions and not just more and more limited-time event gear?
