SAB, open world zone like zelda 1
Hasn’t anyone ever wondered what it would be like to play “the Legend of Zelda” online?
This idea would be like that. But it wouldn’t be a copy of Zelda. It would look and play like the SAB with a more Zelda like open mmo world, in a 3d 8-24 bit detail.

Hm… sounds fun. Not sure how this could fit into our current plans, but I’ll think about it. I’m a HUGE fan of the original LoZ. It is THE game that made me realize what my career should be. I’m actually in the process of doing a personal remake of it with photographic art. I’ve been sculpting the creatures over the past several years as a hobby. You can check them out here:

Josh, I am left wondering if you actually sleep at night. What are you, some kind of robot?
Wow, your sculptures are incredible. I was perusing your website, too, and found that it had some parts that weren’t working totally correctly (would give errors, or I’d see HTML periodically on the bottom of the screen and so forth). Either way, your work is marvelous.
Your work on jump puzzles and other stuff has put you near the top of my “True Heroes of Tyria” list.

Your Ragged Scrybe is beautiful.
IMPRESSIVE!!!!!
(Think Mortal Kombat when saying that in your head) :-)
Logic will never win an argument on the forums…..only a sense of entitlement will.
Good god, Josh! You are seriously talented!

Holy crap those sculptures are incredible.
Hmm, while I disagree with some of your more specific requests (16-24 bit? what does that even mean?), I would love to see either some kind of level or alternate “quest mode” in Super Adventure Box that offers an “open world” exploration/adventure style of gameplay reminiscent of Zelda.
Actually, can you imagine if Moto introduced Tyria’s first MMO? I’m picturing something visually similar to the current Super Adventure Box, but our characters run around in it using special avatars that actually fit the graphical style. It could be a cute, small-scale, simplistic representation of 8-bit Tyria, complete with Rytlock Brimstone in Raybans. Or, it could also partially poke fun at old MMORPG tropes (quest log with stuff like “kill 10 boars” in it, etc.)
Extra bonus points if some NPC comes by the Super Adventure Box and complains that Moto isn’t adhering to his “Manifesto.”

Your recent forum postings, and work on SAB, have led me to conclude the following:
You are a Cool Dude.
Just, you know, FYI.

NES is 8 bit, SNES/SEGA/TG16 is 16 bit, NEO GEO is 24 bit graphics
Out of those I like NEO GEO’s graphics the best.

By the gods, you’re a rare talent indeed. Amazing stuff!
Only one nit-pick… Shouldn’t the wedding cake toppers be smiling?
Here is a better idea: Make a new small ~3 Castle WvW zone with this art style and the abilities you have to use.
Castle Lords would be Charr with big horns that throw fireballs, hold a captured princess, and from time to time decide to ride helicopters. Castle cannon projectiles travel in straight lines and are over-sized, and may or may not smile at you in unfriendly ways.
I’m sure you can transform the other WvW mechanics into easy-to-get references just as well... And you’ll end up pleasing the WvW audience with something new for a change in the same process.

wow, your artwork is amazing! Thank you very much for sharing. The Big Date is by far my favorite
Oh and btw, after playing the SAB all day yesterday, I just had to break out my old Zelda games. Thanks for that
Yak’s Bend
Would be cool if it grew that big, as long as it still is primarily a jumping puzzle~
A pvp minigame would be neat too.
The NPC in Rata says he could imagine the Super Adventure Box being in every corner of Tyria. Then it really is destined for greatness isn’t it?

Whoa! Josh, have you ever submitted that Demon Hunter Sculpture to the band for their fan art album? It’s SICK! Love Demon Hunter!

Thanks for the link to your artwork. Awesome job on it.
Have you ever played King’s Field 2 on the Playstation? It’s a very dark Zelda/Alice in Wonderland type of game. If you do decide to make a LOZ open world zone map in the SAB. Put some King’s Field 2 stuff in it “dark gothic atmosphere”.
Here’s the youtube video of King’s Field 2

Another idea is to have the normal GW2 enemies and NPC’s star in this map.
*Have the story revolve around saving Queen Jennah. Not from being kidnaped. Make it like Zelda 2. Where Zelda is playing the role of sleeping beauty.
*Add fairy tail elements to the story.

That is amazing! I’m such a big fan of the original LoZ. It is such a joy to see recreations of all those classic enemies. The wizrobe is my favorite. I remember the original book that came with the game, contained a clay version of the overworld map on the first page (behind some text).

Most of the games for SNES were 16-bit but technically, it was game cartridge dependent; i.e. Donkey Kong Country, the second best selling SNES game of all time, had 32-bit graphics.
Just have to add that my favorite 8-bit machine, the Commodore 64, still sits on my desk right beside my PC and I still use it regularly.
