The current AI for the monkeys is spotty at best. Sometimes you can walk by them and they do not attack. Other times they come at you well before you’re in aggro range.

Just the other day, in zone 3, a blue one charged at me from the other side of a checkpoint before I had even completely opened it. I took damage the second I touched the checkpoint. It’s also apparent when going through the log before dropping down to the checkpoint before the final boss in zone 3. The furthest blue monkey will charge at you the second you hit the mushroom in the middle. I’ve even ran by a blue one without aggro and they noticed it chasing me through a quarter of the area.

I know this can’t be fixed before the end of the month but maybe it can by the next installment?

Another issue that’s unrelated to the topic is regarding the frog king. Sometimes I throw the crystal shard and it does not affect him. He doesn’t do the tongue move but continues on with his other attacks like nothing happened.

Yeah sometimes the monkeys start coming after you from far away, while at other times you can walk right up to them and kill them without them even starting to attack.

Something a little strange I’ve noticed is that my main character (the one who has all the upgrades and completion) doesn’t seem to aggro some monkeys as much as my other characters do.

I actually sort of like that the bad AI acts like actual enemies in an 8-bit game.
