Super box...fun?
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
Definitly one of the funnest dungeons i’ve ever done. Hilarious and awesome. TBH, if there were 10 more levels i woulda easily played through em, i could feel the difficulty ramping up especially in the last two areas. Look forward to whenever those come out, and what other interesting things arenanet has in store. having lots of fun and many of my friends came back to have fun too.
You do realize you’re basically doing a guild wars 2 dungeon that just has jumping puzzles and looks different, right? They aren’t wasting resources.
This would be better if it was more like a proper dungeon IMO. Maybe something like a permanent fixture, but more subtle, (like with no SAB mobs in regular game world.)

Thinking back to some of the GW1 events, they felt more like a party imo.
I don’t feel that so much with holidays in GW2. Instead of literally jumping through hoops for items, we should be chilling in town and goofing off, playing with whatever holiday toys they put in town, and a costume piece relevant to the holiday.
That’s the best holiday event, and honestly I miss it a lot.
Also there used to be the event… and then THE MAIN EVENT which repeated every 3-4 hours, mad king, grenth/dwayna, etc…
It kinda gives the holiday a climax or pinnacle of sorts, rather than just “do it if you feel like”.
Always with the negativity. I don’t think anyone asked for this content, but it seems that as per the usual the optimists are enjoying what they got (for free mind you) while the pessimists do what they do best. Also, this is not indicative of any “direction” that GW2 may or may not be headed. In my opinion this game is seriously lacking in the mini-game department anyways, with Keg Brawl being the only one I can think of offhand. Is adding a new mini-game and weapon skins really setting off alarms for a sudden change of direction in people’s heads?
The fact that it is nowhere near complete tells me that they were skeptical about SAB to begin with, which really is sad. Sad enough that it prompted me, someone who rarely posts here, to sign on and ask: What kind of community are we that the same company that gave us GW2 is hesitant to share some of their creativity with us? I have nothing but praise for A-Net, especially in these last couple of weeks. Keep on naively hoping for a perfect game developer and pardon me while I go back to enjoying my free and optional content.
Maybe because they finally thought they shouldn’t put this kind of nonsense in the game? And for all the times people have said to keep super mario bros out of gw, this is kind of like a giant middle finger to everyone who doesn’t like these jumping puzzles, on top of the middle finger of the jumping puzzle advertising itself to me all month long.
What?? The middle finger comment is utterly ridiculous. It’s not like they force you to play it.
I’ll tell you why it’s a middle finger, IMO.
I UNDERSTAND I’m not forced to play it. I get that part. I don’t really do dungeons either, but I don’t complain about those so much because they are part of what I’d EXPECT from an MMORPG.
I would EXPECT a new burger on the McDonalds menu, I expect stores to have sales, and I expect content updates to both pvp and pve, regardless of which I prefer.
I DID NOT expect jumping puzzles… but they’re there. That’s not a normal thing in MMOS, but whatever, they’re hidden. That’s fine. I don’t like them but whatever. HOWEVER, These things like the Mad Kings tower, the Christmas one and now this… they’re events that are centered around these jump puzzles. Yes I KNOW I don’t have to participate, and yes, I know there’s an “easy” mode in this one, but that’s besides the point. I want a holiday event that ISN’T focused around a jumping puzzle. Lots of people want something that ISN’T another jumping puzzle.
Yet this is the third holiday event that has new jumping content, as if that’s what holiday events permanently consist of, and i’m beginning to expect disappointment… over and over and over.
That is why it’s like a middle finger.
Then they add this easy mode which is dubbed infantile mode? How condecending. They didn’t call normal mode in GW1 “infantile mode”. It’s like a slap in the face for anyone who isn’t proficient at jumping puzzles.
This still does not make sense to me.
However, I will revise my analogies.
It would be like saying McDonalds is giving you the middle finger because they added a Salad to their menu and you don’t like salads. You do not expect salads at McDonalds, but they added it. How dare they?
As for your part about infantile mode, I suppose I can see how that can be insulting. I personally wasn’t insulted and considered the word infantile more to do with clouds and rainbows and less to do with people’s skill. I also suck at JP’s (I could not complete the Mad Kings Tower or the Christmas one). I did like how they added it though.
I can understand completely how you would not like this addition. I can even understand you not wanting devs to devote time to adding it. I do not understand how you can say they are raising a middle finger for adding content directed at an audience that doesn’t include you. It is a very selfish notion, and doesn’t make any sense. My own selfish side would rather them scrap WvWvW and stop developing updates around it; however, I understand there are plenty of people who enjoy this content and accept the updates surrounding it. I even welcomed the Time Warp nerf which hinders my main mesmer in PvE, because I could see how it would be OP in PvP.
While I appreciate the cutesy clouds and terrible graphics are supposed to trigger a nostalgic response from me and make this new content fun, I can really only say 1 thing..
If I wanted to play a mario, I’d be playing mario.
I want to play Guild wars 2. Please spend your resources on content for that game.
Hey op if you don’t kitten-ing want to play it you don’t have to stop posting this kitten on the forums about resources it’s a holiday event that is new and interesting for people that love jumping puzzles people like you make A-NET not want to do anything new and fun because people criticize them so much for fun holiday events that they have. TLDR GTFO if you want to kitten about a holiday event it may relate to mario but it’s not to get the hell out of here
Like i said… no one is permitted to disagree with the jumping puzzles.
I can’t wait til I can play a game of sudoku for some weapon skins. That’d be ok right? Because sudoku is fun and how dare you question fun?!
One can disagree with Jumping Puzzles, just as much as they can disagree with everything. However, a valid response is if you do not like it, don’t do it. i.e. Do not like Dungeons? Don’t do them. Do not like PvP? Don’t do them. Don’t like Fractals? Don’t do them. However, if you have constructive criticism to improve any aspect, then please provide it.
I personally do not like sodoku, but if you do that’s great. If they added a soduku mini game that gave weapon skins, you would not hear me complaining.

Yeah I guess. I’m just sick of seeing them.
There’s already logic puzzles in PVE (for Asura hearts, and an additional puzzle) and I am absolutely okay with that.
Guild Wars 2 is the most diverse MMO I’ve ever played and that’s cool. My own journey so far:
- Did a lot of PVE. Hated jumping. Wasn’t interested in PVP. Hated keg brawl.
- Went for map completion. Became interested in WvW.
- Went for achievements. Became intested in (and better at) jumping puzzles.
- Loved jumping puzzles. Did a lot of them.
- Tried PvP for the first time. A lot more fun than expected.
- Went back to keg brawl. Having fun.
I have yet to do PvP and WvW properly, but every time I run out of content (be it map exploration, achievements, jumping puzzles) I find something new. I have yet to complete my personal stories. Then there’s also roleplaying which can add another dimension.
I love GW for being so versatile. Something for everyone; and a lot of things for the easily bored like me.
People say “you can’t have everything”; I never agreed with that.

As much as I hate to downplay the dev teams work on this content I just cannot get behind this. I actually feel bad for those with decked out vid cards in SLI and nice surround sound speakers – that have to watch that 8-bit morphed monstrosity and high pitched tinny sounds. Please tell me the audio has been removed from the loading screen now that it’s not April 1st.
Seriously, April 1st is at the top of my list for lame calendar dates. Nothing good comes of this day.
Think you need to re-read his post. He definitely said you collect the items to kill the bosses and collect a heart.
Ah, rereading the post, it does appear that’s what he said
For future reference, punctuation helps a lot in breaking up phrases
Now, off to work and when I get back I can cool off doing World 1 again.

Are you referring my punctuation, or the original posters? I am all for improving my skills in writing, so please point out anything specific that you feel were missing proper punctuation.
Centered around? Just because it happens that the holyday update has a jumping puzzle in it it doesn’t mean it’s centered on it. There were plenty of activities to do, just to name a few : minigames, dungeons , a scavenger’s hunt and plenty of items/achievements obtainable without doing the two (2) JPs.
I get it that you are not proficient at them and it rustles your jimmies, but guess what? Deal with it. There’s plenty of people enjoying them and Anet even catered to players that are not good at them through infantile ( yes, infantile ) mode. The fact that they are not usual content and that you don’t like them doesn’t warrant their removal.
“You can’t have more than 10 HS decks because that would confuse people”
“30 fps is more cinematic”
I won’t be playing this content but I can appreciate the cute concept and obvious effort put into making it.
But 1/2 hour of playing the SAB reminded me why I always hated those old classic games. I know it might be considered heresy but I never liked Mario or Zelda or the any of the rest.
I appreciate they were the foundation of video games and instrumental in shaping the entire field but I always had more entertaining things to do when I was a kid than train myself to jump a character around platforms or memorize puzzle levels. It’s the same thing now.
Still obviously many people did and still do enjoy doing those games, and they’ll likely get a kick out this. The skins are very cool and I’d like to get one but not if it means being reminded why I only started playing video games after they had progressed.
The commercial was very funny so I’ll just take that as my April Fool’s content and be happy with that.

None of the holiday events you mentioned were centered around jumping puzzles. They had JPs as one of its diverse content. Halloween, for example, had the haunted doors, Reapers Humble, Lunatic Inquisition, the maze, the Mad King dungeon and the meta events (one of which was exactly like GW1 main events you mentioned on a previous post, where people gathered in a city every few hours to participate). Wintersday also had the presents, Snowball Mayhem, Bell Choir, Toypocalypse, Tixx dungeon and other events around the world. Saying those events were centered around JPs is not accurate at all.
