Guild Wars 2

For some reason I cannot seem to find anything online which says where to find the slingshot. I’ve searched here, the wiki, Dulfys guide, and tried Google and I’ve got nothing.

I’ve also checked most of the shops in-game and haven’t seen it (although I haven’t got all the secrets in Zone 3 yet so I might have missed some).

Can someone please tell me where I can find it?

It should be in the shop to the right of the checkpoint at King Toad.

yep right before the frog boss. As you are standing at the checkpoint platform for him turn to your right smack a gator and jump on his back to shop directly in front of you

A pity that it’s fairly useless as a weapon. It only fires in a straight line directly ahead on your Y-axis, which means you can’t stand on a platform higher/lower than your enemy and kill them from a distance. I know it was probably done as part of that “retro” game feel, but I was so hoping to use the slingshot as my answer to those stupid Monkeys, always standing somewhere I can’t reach and throwing coconuts at me and laughing, knowing that I can’t retaliate… :P

its useful for tagging crocs across the somehowdeadly green swamp water and such, some people also use it for stuff like bee dog queen but yeah like most the additional stuff its not all THAT useful

Not YET useful! In World 2 the crocs in the river are pretty far from eah other, using a slingshot would make it easy to tag them. Also, think about the future, at some point ANet…Or more liek Josh will put in secret areas that can only be reached by using a certain item, like bombs on walls, later Slingshot on a craco/turtle that you can’t reach with the stick.

Allowing it to be aimed up / down would probably make it broken. Many enemies are completely ineffective if they aren’t on the same level as you are (the coconut monkeys are the only exception ATM) so all you’d need to do is stand on a rock and you’d be unkillable and free to kill every other enemy without any risk whatsoever. Even moreso than a long-range weapon already allows. It would also allow you to destroy the end-of-zone cages without actually stepping on the platform, again making those 100% harmless.

As for how the slingshot is useful if you can’t aim up and down… its a very quick-firing long range option. Simpler to aim, flies further, and is signifigantly faster than bombs as a ranged attack (though half as damaging). Its actually faster than attacking with the stick as well, so if you’re willing to waste the baubbles you can rack up damage more quickly by using the slingshot on auto-attack.

There’s also potential in it as the above poster mentioned. The item was only given at the end of Zone 3, so its very possible it’ll be more useful in later stages, when ranged attacks will probably be more useful (as enemies get more dangerous) and puzzles can be made to accomidate it.

anyone tried taging baubles with it? in world to when you first come to the crocs way up on the wall behind is a red bauble. could not see away to jump to it.
