First off let me say that I’m loving the Super Adventure Box! It’s a lot of fun. I think I might have found a bug though. If you use the whip on a chest, you can get whatever’s inside of it without having to open it with a key first. Is this a bug or working as intended?

I believe it’s the added benefit if the whip. If not I’m using it till its fixed

Supposedly you don’t get credit from those baubles if you use the whip instead of a key. If you’re going for the achievement then don’t use the whip.

You do get credit, you don’t need to use any of the keys. I took all the baubles from zone 3 except I forgot the ones in top of the horizontal tree trunk near the boss room. I decided to do a quick re-run and try with the whip and I got the achievement.

Seems like a bug. I can’t see it being intentional that a cheap item lets you bypass any key hunting / buying.

What is the whip good for then ? If it didn’t open the chests I would never use it ….i expected it to stun foes at some distance when I first bought it.

Honestly it feels nostalgic…. I kind of want to say something obvious like Castlevania/Indiana Jones Lucasarts games/Pitfall but I can’t put my finger on it…

Besides, all the other ‘weapons’ have a secondary purpose other than what is listed, though I haven’t found anything for Moto’s Breath or the Slingshot yet…

Stuns foes that take 2 hits to kill so you can kill them without risk or kill them more quickly. Monkeys are easier to deal with stunned and if you go fast enough you can stun spiders before they spin to kill ‘em quicker. I’ve heard it stuns the queen bee minibosses as well, though I’ve tried it a couple times and never could get it to work for that (maybe I was just out of range though).

The range on it is really short, I agree. The range is listed as 400, but it seems to barely have more range than your sword strikes (which are 130). They need to double check the range because I’m pretty sure its bugged, or listed wrong.

The whip is the first tier for that skill slot. You’ll get longer ranged upgrades in the next couple of Worlds.
