Firstly, let me start this by saying this thread is not — nor meant to be — a complaint thread about the new AR dungeon, nor is it meant to be a thread designed to mindlessly congratulate Anet for making a hard Dungeon.

That said, I would like to say secondly that I love this new dungeon personally. As much as it aggravates me to no end with the Frizz fight, I think it’s actually a well designed, interesting boss that has challenging mechanics to it and require some form of skill to completely. Personally, I have yet to beat this boss, and I do intend to keep going until I do, as my goal is to complete every achievement for special events on GW2 (Such as I have previously).

Here’s my issue:

The Frizz fight makes me really work out the kinks in my builds, my strategies, and my play style. This is something that I love about this type of content. However, on the same foot, I seem to be unable to complete this boss despite whatever skill level I have due to some random (Or Uncontrollable/Lucky) effects, such as: Pulls into lazers on the third phase, confusion stacking and dealing too much damage for me to heal through, and shields that make the golems invincible 90% of the time.

I play a guardian, and I read a lot on the forums that people are saying Guardians are really good for this fight, so I’m curious as to why that is so. I also read a lot of posts that say “We completed it in the first run” and “It’s not hard at all” without really giving explanations as to how they accomplished such a difficult (for me, and for the pug groups that I have had) boss.

So here are my questions:
1. What builds are you running to win this fight?
2. Are there a list of builds that work well for certain classes? If so, would you please share them?
3. Do you have any advice to complete the fight easily and effectively? (I already know to stand on the boxes for the little beams and run away from the big beams, but are there other things I should take into consideration?)
4. Can we potentially compile a list of builds/team comps that work well to complete this boss so pugs and “average” players have a better shot at this boss?

Thanks to all those who answer. If I find effective builds people agree on, I will edit a post under this to contain them.

Just focus on moving. DPS is an afterthought. If you stay alive long enough, eventually you win.

Avoiding the lasers isn’t difficult if you put attention to it. Keep dodge up for when you need it.

Also, stack a bit of vitality so you can avoid a single laser hit. Zerkers are not good for this dungeon.

If I can’t play Guild Wars 2 at work, I won’t work in Guild Wars 2 either.

Question, given dodge: I’ve tried this before and I’ve had little luck with it, but can the beams actually be dodged through?

Additionally, in terms of avoiding the lazers, can the small ones actually be jumped over, or is there a way to actually take -less- damage to survive through it?

If you’re a thief, Signet of Shadows is a MUST for both boss fights.
Also helpful for thieves to avoid cannon fire: Expeditious Dodger (swiftness on dodge, req 5 acrobatics
Feline Grace (dodges don’t take as much endurance, req 15 acrobatics)
Thrill of the Crime (helpful in general but also supplies swiftness to your team on steal, req 10 trickery)
Bountiful Theft (vigor for your whole team on steal, good to activate during cannons, especially with Thrill of the Crime, req 20 trickery)
Anyways, along with other defensive buffs, that’s what helped my thief/team survive the boss fights.

Me thinking I could dodge the beams is pretty much what almost made my team wipe. The small one can be jumped over if you jump off any of the boxes, but be careful of the golems’ pulls

So if I’m correct in assessing what you’re saying, a good piece of advice is that you can jump over the beams so long as you jump on a box first, and not have to go all the way to the top of the boxes and wait till it goes under you?

You can only jump over the small beam. The two large ones, you can’t really do anything about as far as I know. I could be wrong about something given my only thought during the battle was “OH GOD NO BEAMS WHY” and I wasn’t paying attention to anything else other than where they were lol.
