Aetherblade node spawn rate is rediculous
Lucky! I haven’t found a single one ~.~
Jokes aside…
A few posts about this have cropped up since the last patch in both the bug forums and here. I hope this gets fixed.

Yeah I’ve seen the threads, I just wanted to throw another one on the pile to get it changed before the event is over since it’s already gone on the 9th. There’s not much time to waste.
just go to a cache in the region and stand by the chest. they respawn every minute.

That’s one way of doing it. Very boring and unintentional imo. The nodes are obviously broken since the last patch.

That’s what I said I was doing but that’s so stupid, why should I waste my time doing nothing instead of exploring and having fun?
this is because peeps are only running past and not killing the holograms, 50% spawn as holo’s but these ones are never reset by most, so the 50 % that are Aetherblades then get to re-spawn and only 50 % of those can re-spawn as Aetherblades so the number of Aetherblades keeps going down each time they are reset, unless someone resets the holo ones as well

I’ve been running around Fireheart for the last 2 hours popping every node without seeing anyone else. I’m sure that does contribute to the problem though.
the mystery has been solved. I direct you to this thread for the most logical answer.

No it hasn’t been solved. I went around and activated many projectors yesterday and still no pirates. The day before I had no problems finding them. Just seems odd that everything is fine one day and the next nothing. I don’t think it can just be due to people bypassing projectors. Only other explanation is that I had really bad luck.
I was doing a circuit of mount maelstrom hitting holo projectors for the achievement. Unfortunately, I wasn’t finding any pirates. Then I looked at my map and noticed nodes that should have respawned, were gone. I figured someone was popping all the tampered nodes and skipping the others, but I hadn’t seen another person in hours.
It was then that I noticed a node deactivate as I approached it. It seems that some nodes will deactivate completely on their own, not spawning anything.

yesterday i popped a number of halo’s in an arc that could be ran easily, ( kill the undead critters ) and went back to start as they re-spawned and about half ( 50 %) had aetherblades, pop all again and keep going in circle till done. worked for me
I think it has to be a bug. Would you describe your experience in the bug forum please?

I am experiencing the exact same thing as Quarktastic. Trying to finish up the Shiverpeaks achievements for Aetherblades in Snowden Drifts. For an hour or two I ran from node to node, killing all the holograms even. I had two Aetherblade nodes total spawn for me. Today, I attempted the achievement again in Snowden Drifts and have now witnessed nodes fading from the map and from right in front of me before I could reach them. The blue hologram shining out just goes away, and when approached, nothing happens.

I can confirm the same behaviour. Last night I and a couple of guildies were hunting pirates in Fields of ruin. My guildies had completed the achievement so they would activate any non-pirate holos and report to me when they found a pirate one. During this I found a pirate holo that despawned when I got close to it.
This would sort of explain why the non-pirate holos dominate; If the pirate holos can despawn and the non-pirate ones never do you’ll fairly quickly end up with only non-pirate ones.
I dunno about the “behavior”….but I completed it over three days when it started. Bit too much of a grind, but I noticed that back then they appeared a lot more. I still try the holos to actually get coffers, but only like one in 12 get me pirates (I don’t want the pirates now though :P).
But I can tell the spawn rates have dropped.
actually, it most likely IS about people bypassing them; even one day makes a difference in the amount of people who will trigger them. by this point in the game, most of those who were going for the achieves have gotten them, so people like me now just flat-out avoid the holos.
while i was chasing the achieve, though, i went to low-pop servers, picked a zone, and activated EVERY holo projector i could find, first time around. after that, i did notice a significant increase in how many auto-spawned as aetherblade mobs, compared to how many had prior to my activating them. but it absolutely required me activating them once and killing the spawns.
I can’t run past a holo projector without Aetherblades spawning. They’re making exploration a pain in the tail. I have to go out of my way not to trigger them. sigh
fans hate Joffrey. They hate her the way Star Wars
fans hate Jar Jar Binks.”-not a direct quote, but still true.
Where are you finding these, Drakkon? I’ve pretty much given up on getting the Ascalon Aetherblades achievement, as I can’t seem to manage to get through Vexa’s Lab, and no matter how I try, I can’t find any other Aetherblades in Ascalon. I’ve tried running past holograms, I’ve tried different areas, and at the moment, I’m camping out one hologram, activating it as soon as it respawns, and after 5 such cycles, still not a single Aetherblade, just the holograms, that I don’t need For the other areas there was at least one point where I could find them after they stopped appearing for me at the holograms, but in Ascalon, I guess I’ll just never kill that many.
EDIT: Attempts number 6 and 8 did give the Aetherblades, so I’ll stay here, then! Just 31 to go, after all!

It’s ridiculous how many people spell ridiculous “rediculous.” It’s probably because you are saying it wrong as well. It’s ri-dik-yuh-luhs, from the root word ridicule. You don’t say Reedicule the same way you shouldn’t say reediculous.
It’s also ridiculous that people spend this much time crying in the forums about how hard it is to do these things instead of just doing them. I spent a couple of hours over 2 days getting all of the Aetherblade kills. Stop reading the forums and play the game.

It was never about how hard it is to do it. A person could stand at a cache for a very long time to grind it out, but do tell me, is that fun?
People who say “work for your reward” could say that about anything, but this isn’t a job. It’s supposed to be a game.
If there are horrendously boring aspects of the game, people should let the developers know.
I do agree about the spelling though, they have a spell checker, why not use it?
I did the Kryta ones easy, because of the Aetherblades in
the jumping puzzle.
Today I tried to do the Maguman.
I went through most of Sparkfly Fen and Caledon forest.
I did not just pass by the projectors, and cleared a lot of holos
to reset them.
After more than an hour, only 4 nodes spawned pirates.
Don’t know about my spelling, but anyway I look at it,
this is a good old rng grind fest.
At some point this game has got to stop being a lottery and
start focusing on players having fun.
Running from node to node, just in case one out of twenty might spawn
what I’m after is not fun at all.
lose a pip,win 2 pips,lose a pip,lose a pip…………..-

Necros, Rangers, Guardians and Eles got it easy, spawn 2+mobs on chest, go afk for 25 min, come back for achivement of going afk while NPCs fight.

I understand necros and rangers, as well as engis which where missed, but why guards and eles? Their summons have limited durations, so they can’t afk kill as far as I know.

Right sorry, been so long since i was on a ele that i forgot (its 60 seconds enough for it to be killed 3 times), and really? Spirit weapons got a duration (never used them on my alt, never saw anyone and if they did they used them for the second activation that kills them)… Also engie turrets often just kitten stand around next to the mobs so unless you drop a thumper directly where the enemy spawns and you manage to make it hit everyone they wont be of much use/would take way longer.
^ all you need is one hit to tag it, then other usually take care of it^^. I didn’t realize engi turrets had problems initiating attack though.
