Delete change the diving achievement.
Secret of Southsun had a diving goggle location that kills you 100% of the time.
Just don’t do that achievement if it keeps killing you, as you said it’s only worth 2 points. I very much doubt that this achievement is making people ‘quit’ the game.

Ok the last few days i see new worlds that gives ugly or not useful rewards. i dont speak and say ok the game is still beatiful. the diving googles in jp is the hardest ever only for 2 points? u get in 20 minutes up….u make a jump and u die 99 times of 100 …no way to get back up fast or whatever and u call that fun? are we kidding here? and what about u go all this way up and u must aim for something ? hahahahha its the worst idea ever made!!!! people are quitting and dont want to do it… …
While I agree that not even being able to see where you’re jumping is a rather poor choice on the designer’s part, I feel you’re making a much bigger deal of it than it warrants.
First, it is, after all, as you say: only a point for diving achievements. If you don’t care about the reward, don’t do it.
Second, maybe in a few months, when you’re alone in the puzzle, you’ll be able to say there’s “no way to get back up fast,” but right here, right now, there should be no shortage of mesmers portaling people up for exactly this achievement. I personally have spent several entire nights doing so.
Third, “99 times out of 100” is pure hyperbole. Even if you don’t look up a video (which would be a sensible thing to do,) there are, again, dozens of other players doing the same thing, and mesmers experienced with it hanging around. You can ask for their advice, or simply do what they do. I got it on my second try.
Again, I agree that the diving point is rather unfairly designed, but communicating your opinion clearly and truthfully will get you heard much more than exaggeration.
u obviously are from the lucky ones cos i saw and seeing atm people that make 20-30-40 and still dead whats the fun i ask? they do these things to make people have fun… and where is that? u depend to mesmers to make it happen? all other characters bad? so not only bad designer but against all not mesmers! completely worthless in every way the only thing u get as a reward are bad nerves.
There’s a diving point at the end of the new JP? I never noticed. Also, when I opened my achievements page, I see that they are all maxed out, no new dive point is listed.

But anyways, I will say its definitely a change when you take all the diving points up to this point which were easy to get to and no challenge to jump off and then they add this.
After about 20 attempts I told myself it wasn’t worth the issue. But what can you do. Last time I attempted I made it all the way down and landed on the spikes in the well and died. lol. Think that was karma telling me not to bother anymore. xD

Yeah for some reason when they added the new point to the existing achievement some people just got the extra one completed as well. I had the achievement maxed out before the update but I wasn’t one of those lucky ones that got instant credit. :P

The diving platform is a different path from the chest platform. I haven’t yet figured out the path on my own (thanks Mesmers!) — I am waiting for a guild RP run of the place after the crowds are gone, when I shall really explore it. Still, I know if you go to one, you have to go way back down to get to the other.

Its the other way when you get all the way to the top to the iron plank that leads to the top of the airship, the way to the pipes, btw as a mesmer, necro, thief, anything that can portswap back to a location you can get the chest, jump back up on the zep, jump/walk back over the bar and jump up again to the pipes do do it all at one go.

-laughs- The farthest I’ve jumped on my own is the end of that sequence of pillars down under the airship. From there I think I’m aiming for the wrong spot to get up because invariably I hit my head on something I can’t see and my jump turns into a faceplant in the water below. Like I said, I’ll figure it out in time. So happy this is permanent!
First attempt right when the content opened took me 10 mins. Takes me ~2 minutes top to bottom. There are plenty of mechanics/UI/convenience issues missing in this game, yet you complain about this JP/Diving achivement.

The one where you dive into lava? I want to know how you survived that one lol, you are 100% guaranteed death. You can’t even walk into the lava without taking massive damage.

What on earth are you going on about… Why do you have to depend on Mesmers?
What you mean is you do not have the patience to work out the puzzle path, jumps and dive location for yourself.
I and many others did the puzzle and the dive master achieve in the first few hours, never using a Mesmer, and having to deal with all the silly lag and worse than usual graphics culling due to the are being so busy… sure it took a few goes to work out the optimum spot to dive from and in general it is a little more tricky than the ones in LA but cmon this is just a .. “im lazy, port me please post for EZMODE achievement”.
I for one am glad that ANET have put some nastiness in their jump puzzles… there is nothing in the puzzle that remotely requires you to use a Mesmer port, just takes a bit of patience, perseverance and skill.

Oh that one. That didn’t count for the regular diving achieve, but yeah it was Southsun achieve. Of course I died to that one. I thought you meant there was one at the top of the geyser one (which I thought there was, but I recalled incorrectly).
Kinda wish they just added this one as a separate achievement instead of tacking it on to the existing one. Even the new diving part in the Four Winds place is a seperate achievement. Oh well, I’ll get my 2 achievement points back eventually. :P
Maybe they should just make a diving category in general in the Exploration tab…maybe they are already ahead of me on that and doing it with the UI update.
