Why does the hardest dungeon have 2 weeks?
It’s not the hardest dungeon and will probably return as a fractal.
I’ve got no clue. While I love the dungeon, such stupid decisions are beyond my comprehension.

I don’t get why. I could understand how hard it was if the dungeon was permanent but we have 2 weeks. Does anyone know why a dungeon that has 2 weeks is harder then dungeons that have been there for months?
Have you completed Arah Explorable?

So, you could do Arah in “a few hours” the first time you did it?

OP is troll, stop feeding him.
I think the OP was asking why the dungeon is around for only 2 weeks. I don’t think he was looking to go into a discussion about whether AR is the hardest dungeon in the game or not. His poor choice of words in the title would speak otherwise.

That doesn’t help us if we’re trying to complete the achievements though…
Please give us a keyring…
During the first beta where Ascalon Catacombs was available many people declared it incredibly difficult (and remember this was the old ‘easy’ version) and were either declaring it hardcore end-game content that most players are not supposed to be able to finish (at least not easily) or reassuring each other that it’s just because it hadn’t been properly play tested and it would be nerfed for launch.
It wasn’t nerfed, but once players got more familiar with combat mechanics generally and that dungeons specific quirks it became a lot easier to do. I’m not sure about the other permanent dungeons (wasn’t following public opinion that closely) but I know the same happened with Canach – at first a lot of people found it incredibly difficult but with practice it was possible to work out tricks and techniques that made it easy.
I suspect the same will happen here. Once people have had more time to play around with it and learn and share what works it won’t be nearly as bad.

Not my fault titles max at 45 chars
His title clearly states “hardest dungeon”. I have more trouble doing CM story/exploration than this new one. All the current dungeons practically depend on skipping mobs in creative ways or just throwing a lot of elites at you. This one has actually makes you learn mechanics.

I’m pretty sure it wasn’t that, it was when players got to 80 and were properly traited and geared in exotics. AC is easy whether you’ve got 5 level 80’s or 5 level 35’s, but when people were doing it with level 25’s and the 35’s they had were geared out in level 15 blues… well…
I remember running Molten dungeon in a PUG with 3 brand new players who just bought the game and were lower than level 30 and one 80. Had to 2 man the final boss. Those 3 were friends and we had a lot of patience. Dungeons are supposed to be challenging and when you are still learning the game and don’t even have your entire skill bar unlocked, it will seem impossible. Having no level requirement for these dungeons ensures no one is excluded and is good for letting friends/guilds/pugs carry 1 or 2, but they should not expect to have the same survivability as 80s because they don’t have the gear or experience with their class and game mechanics. Just because there is upscaling does not mean you should be capable of completing dungeons with a party of lvl 1s.

About 4 weeks into the game when me and my brothers hit level 80 we floored a few paths of Arah. A few battles were complete wipes but we got it down and can run it without a hitch unless it is path 4. I still avoid that path. While a lot of the new dungeon will be a learning experience where it gets easier with experience, the one shots are unacceptable. I just remembered what the last fight reminds me of.

It’s not the hardest it’s new… and most peaple got really high learning resistance.

Why do you say that? There haven’t been any new fractals added, correct?
I was able to complete it earlier with a group where 4/5 had never done it before and didn’t know what to do and 2 of us kept dying to the AoE during the boss fight (yes one of them was me).
Admittedly we didn’t get the achievement for finishing the fight in less than 15 minutes, and I didn’t get the two for avoiding attacks, but I think I could do them next time now I know what it is I’m meant to be avoiding.
I think the main thing is you need to know what you’re doing, how each sections will work and what to do in it, and that takes practice.

Not yet but various Anet staff have said on the forums that they almost certainly will add old one-off dungeons as Fractals. It fits perfectly with the idea behind Fractals (reliving key moments from the past) and it lets them bring back popular dungeons without having the world crowded with all these different things going on.

Me and my guild had more trouble with CoF path 3, and that was before it got nerfed and you didn’t have to wait for the entire party to wipe before you could go back to a waypoint. The achievements like defeating the boss in under 15 mins, not getting hit by the cannons, etc… are not meant to be something that everyone can do. If you need to get the 12 achievements, do all the caches (easy), run the dungeon and get the three easy achievements from that (the ones from beating the bosses and saluting the cannon guy, which you can do to his corpse and it will count), and running the dungeon once should take care of most of the Kryta Aetherblades achievement. I believe that adds up to 12.
Advice for the dungeon: Don’t do PUGs. Get some people from your guild to do it with you. Read up on it so everyone is clear on what to do for the bosses. Balance your team (we had to have a mesmer switch to his warrior bc we had 2 guardians then three squishies, which proved to be difficult in the final boss when more than one person died). At the cannon part, stay still in safe areas as much as possible instead of running around, and only use dodge when you absolutely need to, not every time you see a red circle on you. Skills and buffs that make you faster also help if you have room for them. If you have a thief, get them to bring shadow refuge to throw down on people reviving others so they dont get interrupted for awhile.
Also, get everyone in your party on vent or mumble or something

I agree. It does make sense. I’m just questioning the “probably return” notion since we’ve seen zero real action on this path.
Even if it returned as a fractal, the existing version will likely be altered. They have said any content returning as a fractal will likely lose any unique rewards (the example used was the Molten Facility and the jet pack, with this content it would likely be the monocle).
It seems like a foolish decision to me to give people only a couple of weeks to experience a difficult group dungeon.
