inspector kiel bugging out
We too had this same problem. one of the party reported it as bugged from within the game. Kiel stopped about 1/2 way up the tunnel going up to the fight. We wiped all the enemy out before she got there and she just stopped. I am not sure what other info to provide. We flipped the switch for the lightning on the bridge before ever getting to the jumping puzzle, so I don’t know that that is necessarily related. We did party wipe a couple times before getting to this point. 2 of us did the jumping puzzle and then dropped back down to follow the rest of the group up with Kiel. hope that helps.

This bug happen if all your party member touch the first bungee thing. Tell one people to open the door or tell one people to stay with her.
Kiel said: “Don’t leave me. I can help”, maybe she mad at you for leaving her alone thus wont help you next.
This happened again to another guild group of ours. Looks like today’s update did not fix it.
this happened to me today as well my first run where we finally were getting close to the end, i was thinking, can’t ANET put in some dialog that can activate her or have her teleported to where she needs to go until they fix the bug out issue
Oh if only Anet actually had a QA department to actually TEST THIS kitten
This works for me: Before you go to the jumping puzzle area you have a platform between the second bridge and the last bridge and there is a device that you use to stop the lightnings in the bridge. After you turn off the device you can continue the dungeon without the npc becoming stuck.
The problem here is that must players skip that part of the dungeon, because the device is well hidden, and when players skip it, the npc will come along after you complete the next part and will become stuck after the jumping puzzle.
Note 1: If you didn’t turn off the device and you continued the dungeon, the npc will come along and will become stuck, and even if you turn off the device after doing the jumping puzzle the dungeon will continue bugged.
Note 2: I didn’t tried to bug the dungeon after the last update. We went back after she bugged and tripped this switch and she then moved but wouldn’t open the barrier when she got there
As i said in note 1 if you come back after going to the jumping puzzle area the dungeon will still be bugged, the npc will not do nothing.
I already did the dungeon 10 times, the npc only got stucked at the first time because we didn’t turn off the device, just do what i said and you will not have any problem/bug/stuck. Here – https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/skypirates/inspector-kiel-bugging-out/page/2#post2295938

Did the dungeon twice, bugged twice.
Please Anet! The goggles do nothing!:(

But if you read after that post it isn’t a perfect fix, nor a fix for everyone. Ellen still bugs out sometimes even when that device was turned off right away.
Personally, both times I ran she bugged. The first time she got stuck on the ramps outside the boss room for one of two probable reasons; either it was because we killed the mobs before she reached them or because we never disabled the lightning traps on the bridges because we didn’t know a way to disable them even existed. The second time, we made sure she aggroed the mobs (by luring them to her, since she had already stopped in the bugged spot beforehand) and then killed them. We still didn’t realize that the lightning traps could be deactivated until she bugged again, and we split up to search the whole dungeon for anything that we could have missed that could be making her freeze. During our entire search she stood still some distance outside the boss room (where everyone has screen shots of her), until someone found the device and turned the lighting traps off. Then she started moving again (I THINK she even teleported back to the person who turned off the traps, because one second she was bugged and stuck and the next she was halfway across the map), but she did nothing when we led her up to the boss room doors, she just followed us around like a lost puppy. It was rather like the “defend Ellen” part of the mission where you fight those final mobs before the boss never properly completed or something, because she stayed having that shield icon on the map and such even after they were dead, but only until the traps got turned off and she started moving again.
Before you ask, the first time we ran it we all went up the jumping puzzle together and killed on the way back down. Realizing this might have caused her to bug on our first run, we had only one or two people go up the puzzle to open the door for the second run, had the rest of the party flat out follow her to the mobs (where she ended up stopping in the same place she bugs every time) and made sure she attacked the mobs by luring them to her when we realized she wasn’t going to go up the hallway far enough to get to them herself. Even after attacking the mobs she went back to that spot in the hallway where she gets stuck and stayed there until someone managed to turn off the lightning traps. It rather reminded me of those NPCs you defend in Dynamic Events where you’re defending them while they’re moving down a set path. Every time they attack something they go backwards to whatever part of the path they were on before they went into combat, and only then will they move forward again. It was like Ellen went back to that part of her set path because it was where she was before she went into combat, but she just never got the instructions on where to go after that.
So personally, I don’t think that the lightning traps not being turned off are the lone source of the issue. I think it is definitely related to it, but that other factors are contributing to her getting stuck, including her not getting a chance to aggro mobs or not having an escort to the mobs after the door is opened. It might even be related to how the door gets opened at the end of the jumping puzzle, I don’t know.
We are now stuck in the door before the final boss. We have killed all the mobs, but Ellen Kiel doesn’t open it so we can’t continue.
Is it a bug or are we doing something wrong?

Same problem here, stuck on different part of the instance…
We were stuck there before, we solved it when we found an asura panel near the bridges and we desactivated it. But…

Well we found the same panel, brought her to this panel/forcefield gate and now she stand still doing nothing same as OP.

+1
Still buged, learn to test your update Anet
Can we hope a fix in 2-3 years ? oh wait, temporary dungeon
Even no “sorry”, “lololol we are working on it lololol wait”
Pathetic

We’re aware that Kiel is still getting stuck and are working on it. In the meantime, you can work around the problem by making sure that at least one member of your party gets inside the area and engages the mob before Kiel does.
Hi Rubi,
I’m sorry, but this is just not accurate. Our entire team made it up the jumping puzzle and killed the mob before Kiel was there. She still bugged.
Here’s some constructive feedback for you: please, PLEASE stop making dungeons dependent on NPC’s unlocking parts. It’s not fun. It doesn’t work. It’s highly frustrating your player base.
There are plenty enough people who have successfully completed the dungeon. The fact that many of us have this problem does not necessarily indicate that ANET was in any way negligent in testing the content. But that aside, I am certain by the tenor of many of the posts above that you all would like the dungeon fixed as much as I do. If you think about it those of you who have chosen an antagonistic tone in your posts are being counter productive. “You are an incompetent . . . do what I demand” is not really going to motivate the developers to any greater lengths than they already are working to resolve this issue. I know I am less inclined to provide assistance when the request immediately follows insults. The fact that they continue to assist us despite the insults heaped upon them is a testament to their professionalism.
From one gamer to others, please try and keep your posts at least civil. They also have to go home to their families, and those families do not deserve to have their husband/wife/father/mother to come home angry/frustrated/depressed simply because our favored form of entertainment is not 100% perfect. And heaping insults, cynicism and hate on them is no more right than it would be upon anybody.

lol …. no
No.
I can’t play 5 hours per day, i did this dungeon 4 times, and everytime i lost all my time because they can’t make a NPC correctly, so i’m sorry but : they don’t know how to test their content, they come to tell us " Do this and it should be ok guys ! ", but absolutely not, i wasted my time again, sorry but this is pathetic.

Has it been fixed yet?
Has it been fixed yet?
Ahh the conundrum of response. At the risk of leading the thread away from its original point, I see you reject my appeal to conscience and human decency and ignore my appeal to logic. Even if you might detest ANET developers for a perceived theft of your gaming time, I still assert that insults are not going to be productive in spurring them on to faster resolution.
But for the record, I do not have 5 hours a day either to dedicate to this pastime. I too get frustrated when things don’t work properly. I just thought to encourage others to work together in exhorting the developers to patch this and avoid the counter-productive insults. However I am not terribly surprised that my efforts in that direction are not entirely well received. Hopefully this side discussion does not also derail the original point of the thread.

A bit of a moot point when you sell your game on the premise that this sort of content is to be expected, it’s then expected by us it works. It’s not like this didn’t happen on any other updates before. Remember not being able to enter the Molten dungeon on day one? What can a developer now-a-days get away with and sell their product at full price?
I’m at a point where I just say no to the living world and wait till they actually release a proper expansion. As it is now, after wasting 3 attempts on the dungeon and encountering the bug I don’t feel like doing it anymore.
Just had this happen seems to be since we attacked from the jumping puzzle and not through the door.

Hi Moira,
Cool name by the way.
I do completely respect that you wanted to keep the tone civil, without resorting to insults, ad hominem attacks, etc. I couldn’t agree more. While admittedly a few of most posts have had smatterings of sarcasm, I think a little indignation is justified for this reason:
This is very, very far from the first time this has happened since launch.
At some point (and again, this is derailing a bit, but related to the overall philosophy that the Living World model is generating); ANET must either fix some fundamental design philosophy flaws (i.e. always relying on NPC’s to guide progress in dungeons) that get compounded with extreme NPC scripting flaws, or continue to put out releases that frustrate their fan base.
This is why the indignation is somewhat justified.

For the same bug. It’s a repeatable, confirmed bug that utterly blocks dungeon progress because an NPC’s script is corrupted.
And they’ve let it be for seven months. And if they want leave such obvious things broken with their game, and continue to laud their own achievements in game releases, innovative design, etc., then they need to expect considerable backlash when the player base gets burned again and again with bugs.
Just happened to me, and we followed the anets advice of beating her to the mobs. This is soo annoying considering dragon bash glitched for me so I cannot get 3 achievements, now I cannot even complete the dungeon…
We are now stuck in the door before the final boss.
Is it a bug or are we doing something wrong?
Yeah I followed the 3-4 tips given here on this thread. They help to drastically reduce the chances of her getting bugged but it can still happen. Following those tips got me 3 wins, but one of the runs still bugged out. The 3 times (total) she has bugged out for me has been after she passes the door where the jumping puzzle is. I’ve never had her bug out near the console on top of the jumping puzzle like that picture shows… so there is probably 3-4 ways that she can bug out.
