we did it, after 8 trys, but there is a trick.
stay close to the center
use the boxes to jump the lower lasers
bring plenty of vigor and stun-breaks, and keep moving.
this isn’t timed. just wand everything to death, slowly. staying alive is priority #1

considering that the 4 time hit is an engine problem triggered by spending too much time “inside” the lasers, staying close to the center will just get you killed more easily.
the solution would be adding a cooldown to the damage the laser can do to each player (say, one or two seconds), that way once you’re hit by the laser, you’re hit once, not as many times as the game can process in a second.
I’m still not sure why the laser wall goes through the boxes. Would be more interesting if you had to hide behind the boxes instead of on top of them. Then the golems could push people out but it would add to the kiting of it.
As another person suggested increase golem damage, get rid of the kitten pulls. So many ways they could make it a fun fight, sadly all they did was make it a question of do you have enough stability/damage.

i actually died the first time because i assumed obstruction was still a thing in the game, and sorrow’s embrace has a similar boss mechanic where you hide behind walls to avoid the deadly laser.
nope, now it goes through walls, better get to climbing stuff and hope the collision engine doesn’t do anything funny.

Sounds like the key is to not let the lasers hit you in the first place…

it’s not full to downed. it’s full to dead. it downs you in two hits and kills you in another two. if it hits 4 times in a row (and it does, that’s the point of the thread), you’re instagibbed.
also, assuming insta-downing is intended, that would mean any player downed by the laser wall would have to die, because it’s impossible to cross to the other side of the laser wall to rez him without getting hit yourself.
and no, “don’t get hit in the first place” is not an excuse for one-shot mechanics.

I’m pretty sure whatever Anet puts out are all intended. Only after bugs fixed, exploits fixed, mechanics fixed, balance fixed blahblah then what were intended before now become unintended. Then refixed, rebalanced blahblah then what were unintended now become intended. Wait, what the hell I’m saying?
