I’ve been doing crab toss for a good few hours, and I’ve noticed some problems. First off my skills lag really bad, and when I’m about to hit another player they rubber-band away. Second is the veteran Karkas. Several times I’ve been wiped 3 times in a row by all veterans. There should be some 3 second invulnerability after a wipe so it doesn’t feel like I’m being picked on. It also seems like the Karkas should be more inclined to go after the one carrying the crab. One last thought, and this is for the players is if you’ve gotten crabtacular before it would be nice if you’d let others get it. I’m assuming to get it you need to be the one holding the crab at the end of the match.

You need to be holding the crab whilst everyone else is knocked down (by rolling Karka). It’s not very well written.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to let the karka target only the player with the crab… it’s hard enough for that player to keep the crab. I feel it works fine at the moment and I saw some decent games. Everyone should feel threatened by the karka imho.

I agree about the lag. Had the crab when a huge lagphase started… it lasted more than 10 sekonds easily and afterwards I had a lot more points than before. Became 2nd in that match, without doing too much.

Lag occured quite frequently in my games (Drakkar Lake).

I figured this was going to be like oddball from Halo or something of that sort but instead it’s just a giant headache.

-It’s so laggy it is almost unplayable. Skills fall short and people rubber band everywhere.

-Even when not lagging sometimes the dash will work and sometimes it will outright fail. This goes for any of the skills and often causes someone to get away scott free a ton.

-Even if you say the veteran karka can’t hit you when you are down Anet peeps? You are missing the point the fact is like every other spam knockdown you peeps keep putting in this game so much it is starting to actually get under my skin. You can get hit again as you are going through your really really long get the heck back up animation. So the veteran karka will roll you each time at that moment keeping you lockdown for two or three times.

-Items such as the trap expire to quickly or go off when someone isn’t even close enough to be effected but just in the general area. Voiding the whole purpose of the item in the first place.

All that and everyone in there plays like the days of ol Halo oddball chasing the crab owner in a straight line of stupidity.

If you’d just stinking let people beta test some of this stuff like many other games have even WoW which I loathe. Who grabbed top peeps like death and taxes so they could poke around with the content. Those peeps will find bugs you didn’t think about and you need to tap them. Stop being so stubborn about it and putting stuff in that is bugged often for a whole week or more of an event when it can be prevented quite easy.

I spent a solid hour in crab toss yesterday and came away sincerely glad that I don’t need to stay there for the achievement.

It was too random, too much of a confusing button mashing mess in a game that lives and dies by timing and cooldowns. But here was no skill, no finesse; just rolling karkas and chasing that crab through a garage sale that exploded all over the lawn. If you get close to the crab, like everyone else is, there’s a minimal chance you’ll grab it. It’s all luck so there is no skill. There are no teams or goals so there is no strategy. Tossing the crab to another player? Why? The whole thing is such a skill spamfest that you’re going to get clobbered no matter what.

And the karkas. Thank you for responding to the issue that they aren’t following the crab holder, but is that really the problem? The players, the hatchlings and the karka will now be following the poor sod with the crab. How long do you really expect to hold on to it in a match? How many matches will it take to get an achievement?

I don’t know if people are generally having fun with this. The group I was with kept asking between rounds if the game was fundamentally broken or if they were missing something. It doesn’t feel like a game. Maybe if there were four players in such a small space, or more variation to the field, or a goal or teams. As is it’s just a bit of a mess and really a chore to play. Which is a shame because I love the idea of games within games. Keg Brawl is fun and pretty clear.

But I got my backpack so there’s really no reason to go back until things are fundamentally changed. Good on you guy for giving it a shot though.

My first rage: I hate crab toss and I don’t seem to be able to find ppl to agree to help get the achievement. So basically ppl will need to be organized to get the achievement and not play as intended. Please ANET, this is an impossible task, so fix it or give the achievement as free. I am also playing in ASIA which doesn’t help being 1000000 miles away from the server where ppl are always a sec ahead of me in this game. Grrrrrr………

I agree that it is possible to grief ppl and you can also ensure that you don’t die and ppl will not be able to get the achievement. So pls give this ‘Crabtacular’ as a free achievement. Thx

well crab toss its kinda competative so your gonna get alot of them guys who really dont care tbh and some who dont even relize the achievment or simply not paying attention.
TBH i think we can do without the huge rolling karkas though they more annoyin than anything.

Yes, it’s quite competitive and fun to play. Dodging , anticipating the opponent, using bonus at some moments, a lot of stratégies, i like it.

However, i do wonder if you can get gold/exotics in the reward chest. I’ve been first several times and only got green items so far. Considering that lower ranked do get 1 item too in addition of the karka shells, it wouldn’t be really fair if the reward was luck based.

Of course, this argument holds no value if there is no gold/exotic reward from the chest…

I got a rare from the chest when I got first place the second time, so it can drop more than just greens, but I don’t know if it has anything to do with your rank.
