If it ain’t dutch,… :P

I liked the whole chain, same as most worldbosses. They’re all zerged which kinda makes any challenging mechanic obsolete.
I once did shatterer on my server at a ridiculous time during the middle of the night. It was hard as hell ànd challenging with the few ppl on.
If the queen only gets attacked by 5-10 ppl it will be hard. If it’s 200 ppl she’s a pushover. Same goes for all bosses. Most ppl are chestfarmers (i’m one too) so all bosses will be zerged. (nr’s mb wrong, but i was lagging like hell when i entered the fight so i wasn’t really paying attention to the players).

ANet seems to try so hard not to to anything like WoW that they prefer doing it wrong. WoW’s world bosses have actually been challenging and fun.
If the queen only gets attacked by 30 ppl it will be hard.
I did it at 8:30 in the morning with less than 30 ppl, it wasn’t even remotely hard.
Generic boss is generic.
The time limit is stupid. A small number of us managed to get her to spawn late last night and were doing reasonably well in the fight but were defeated by the time limit.
There is nothing legendary here … I don’t even see where it fits in with the story (and I’ve been genuinely paying attention).
As for the rewards? I can get more reliable drops running around in Ascalon.
I don’t even see where it fits in with the story
Well it’s Southsun and, uh, there are Karka in Southsun. And the settlers, well, probably they killed too many of them and now this big one got really mad und turned legendary for no reason. It’s totally unrelated to that Blingg / Canach story as it seems, but hey. Who cares about consistency. Great final!!1
Since the only available designer had to do the Canach/Null instance and the rest of the content team does god knows what (create fireworks for dragon bash or so), they had to copypasta another generic encounter.
Didn’t even know it was hyped up lol …
In it’s current state, the Karka Queen is not worth the time and effort for measley rewards.
Yes, it’s nice that it has two guaranteed rares. But in that time you could have finished other easier and quick meta events, such as golem, maw and FE.
Karka Queen is not worth it because:
-You need a lot of players to keep all settlements uncontested since karka are very difficult to kill and hit hard (especially @ Camp Karka with the veteran and champ)
-Settlements are quick to go contested, so by the time you take the 4th camp with a small group, the 1st camp will flip
Almost a direct copy/paste of a normal veteran/champion Karka, with 1 unique thing thrown in(need to throw eggs to break armor, which doesn’t even make sense, how do EGGS break something armored?). Incredibly easy, incredibly boring, no actual skill, strategy, or challenge at all. As easy as shadow behemoth or any lesser big boss event, and much worse than orr temples, even before they were changed to be better.
The entire southsun living story event chain was a huge let down, I will probably never do the karka queen again and only did the null/canach once to see what they were like, and they were just as badly designed as the karka queen.
The events leading up to the event are cool, but the event itself is just another loot pinata.. just in this case you get 2 guaranteed rares instead of 1.
The karkas roaming around by the karka queen pose much more of a threat and a nuisance than the queen itself, which is just not right.
Extremely dull , and like comparing wine to mud water when you put this up against the fantastic mf dungeon.
Im guessing the two were done by different teams……
For me, just the fact that the Karka Queen looked just like every other veteran Karka was disappointing. At the very least, make her larger. Just like the weapons and armor you can buy with Karka shells……mediocre and lazy content.
I wish the Karka Queen looked more unique.
I wish it was bigger.
I wish I could notice what she was doing in the middle of the zerg, and the stuttering framerate.
I wish she did some truly unique attacks.
Apart from that… Meh, it’s alright I guess. But not as epic as I would have hoped for.
I miss epicness since the fractals, something old and evil… not some company which makes slaves or some dredge who build a powersuit.
Karka Queen looks like crap, no unique skin or anything so that was disappointing. But I really love the mechanics they introduced as well as the waves of mobs you have to worry about. All in all I think it is a great new world boss.

Um…
Have you fought any of the WoW world bosses since PandaVille launched?
The two of them – the Flinstones Dinosaur and the Sha of Smog Monster…
- You just stand there and… autoattack.
The boss doesn’t even move. It has no pre-events to trigger it. It has no special abilities. It is just 10-gazillion health and a 1-shot on any melee once per minute. Each then has some adds that make ‘Hoggar’ look hard…
- Its like WoW looked at GW2 world bosses and thought “how can we do this, even worse than they do?”
But at least the loot pinata on it is only once per week. But per toon. Still, its a free raid-quality item.
Got a new 90, go beat up on Fred Flintstone’s construction crane or find out where the smog monster went after his film with Godzilla in the 70s…
- That’s two free raid-quality items, per week, per toon. So right out the door you get bumped from leveling greens to the second tier of LFR just by… being Away-from-keyboard near the thing.
I’ve tanked dino, on a new 90 monk… I wasn’t in a group – I was getting leftover AoE heals from the other people, but I held half the aggro for the fight.
… that’s just sad.
WoW has thrown in the towel on raiding even more than GW2 has. At least GWs doesn’t claim to have raids. So I don’t show up here looking for one.
I find the Karka Queen a let-down. But don’t compare it to the competition. They’re dropping the ball even harder.
- Thing is, GW2 gave us this in about 1-2 weeks of dev time. It took WoW months to do it and still get it all wrong. If ArenaNet just slowed the dev time down and took about twice as long, this fight would have been amazing.
