My first and so far only try at Canach was like some nightmares I have where I have a toy gun and people are shooting at me with real guns.

Every skill I tried caused zero damage; when he hit me, he hit me kitten hard.

To tell you the truth, I found it boring and tedious as all get out, but I’m assuming there is a trick to this to get your attack to cause some damage.

Anyone feel like filling me in?

I tried this with my Ranger. None of the longbow attacks caused any damage, none of the greatsword attacks caused any damage, I don’t believe either of my pets hurt him at all, and the sucker could out run me. Kudos to folks who got him on the first try, but it’s a kitten mystery to me. I’m gonna come back with my warrior and try the advice of Katz, below.

Canach has a buff that makes him immune to your attacks. The “toy gun” you have, isn’t a weapon, it’s a tool with which you can control the mines in the dungeon. The mines are in fact the only way to damage Canach. You have three activation skills (2-4) for three different types of mines. Use the right skill for any mine and it will turn green. Once a mine is green, make Canach touch the mine – either by kiting him over the mine or by kicking him with skill 5. The mine will explode and deal damage to Canach. Repeat it until his health bar is gone. Takes about 5 mines.

Here is how I did it:

-Used my guardian because she has the tougher armor.
-Used the gun to see how to deactivate the bombs and deactivated them.
-Pulled him to the npc’s at the entrance.
-Would deactivate the few bombs around the entrance and pull him across them avoiding being in the radius of the bombs myself.
-Eventually the bombs killed him.

@ASaturnus: Thanks to your advice, I got the ugly kitten. I’d quibble that it probably took closer to 20 mines than 5, but I only saw him hitting a mine a couple of times. Most of the time I was kiting like crazy while defusing all the mines I could.
