I’m not sure where to put this, but I’m having issues with the new infinite sickle thing. Every other gathering item allows you to inteupt the gathering affect/animation by pushing a movement key or by dodging. The new sickle locks me into the animation. Hence, if I get attacked, I can’t move and can’t dodge. I’m stuck till the animation is done

I don’t know if this is a bug, or if it’s intended. If it was by design, then I’d rather use a normal orichalcum sickle which would allow me to not die. ’Cause evil veteran karkas like to dance on my squishy head. Is anyone else experiencing this? Thoughs?

Since the patch that opened Canach’s instance, the infinite sickle:

Locks you into finished to harvest, cannot dodge roll or do anything until the 3 “mining pick” animations are done
This means you can be attacked without retaliating, and this also means you spend twice the amount of time harvesting a single node, because of non interruptible animation.

Right before the patch, the infinite sickle was faster because the harvesting would happen on the first “pick” sound on the animation, and you could interrupt it.
Right now, not only the animation locks you in, but you have to wait the SECOND picking sound to harvest.

Yeah, this is really annoying me. I found that I can switch weapons to stop the animation, but that’s not a solution for an elementalist or anyone who can’t switch weapons for whatever reason. We should be able to walk away and do whatever to interrupt the animation – there is literally no reason for this.

Yes, I agree with Bragdras completely. This sickle is now worse than the normal ones in the game. You can’t break out of the animation and you have to wait for the second hit to harvest. If they don’t change it back to the way it was pre-patch, I think we have a legitimate reason to ask for a refund. If we have to have the mining animation, it should harvest on each hit and allow us to break at any time.

Yeah, I thought the animation for this was rather odd too. LOL

Would be nice if the water would rise a little higher similar to the molten pick axe though.

maybe 1 of the Anet team can give some extra info on this issue?

- will the animation still be like mining?
- will there be cahnges to the animation?
- will we be able to cancel it again? (already answered with yes iirc)
- will the animation be changed to the same time as the normal sickle?

The last two i find most important especially the animation time. since i didn’t really pay €10 to be slower in gathering.

they were talking about not being able to break animation. he will forward it to the team. but noting about the 6-8sec casting time that should be 2-3sec.. On breaking animation he was clear enough, on total cast time not.

I loved it the night before the patch. If you got multiple gathers on a single node, the “triple-pick” animation would pick all of them up. If not, you could interrupt and leave. I felt like it was actually a great use of gems – sure, it could have been a bit more efficient than a normal sickle, but if I’m spending $10 on it, a slight increase in efficiency isn’t unwarranted.

Please change it back to pre-patch!

A friend of mine has an explanation for the pick animation: When the sickle gets dull, you just beat the plant until it yields you the fruits XD

This, so much. I bought the sickle and I was blown away. Being able to harvest multiple times with a single click and animation really felt like the sickle is worth the money. I was loving it and even considered buying 2 or 3 more for my alts.

Then comes the patch and not only is this grand thing of faster harvesting gone, it is also actually slower than using a regular sickle. Now I actually feel penalized and I’m glad I didn’t buy more than one.

People dislike the animation but it was actually fitting with the original ability to harvest with each ‘pick’. Now it’s just weird and slow.

I could somehow understand if people were complaining about the quicker gathering, but it actually justifies the high costs for it and it’s a convenience item after all (unless you plan on harvesting 20000 plants to break even and then 10000 more to have some net profit …), so please, make it convenient again.

Thanks for the fix on this. I like the little fountain at the end of the animation, and I like that it isn’t horribly overstated. It’s nice.

I’d like to see two things (though I am happy it is no longer swung like the pick).
1) Animation for water and growing vines increased. Right now it is barely seen, especially on bushes.
2) Reduce the handle size back to a one handed item. The sickle was increased in size from the original when it was swung like a pick because at first it was just floating. Now it is pick sized, but with the animation correction the handle needs shortened again.

It’s better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

And 3) FASTER! (Unless this has been fixed already.) I am still checking YouTube and the Forums before I commit to a Sickle. Latest video I could find seemed to take nearly TWICE as long as a normal sickle.

When #3 (and #2 would also be nice) are addressed, then I may buy several. I bought two Molten Picks for my two main characters, then grew to like another character a lot. I wish the Black Lion would locate another cache of those picks!
