Makes me sad: I want weapon skins, but have no money
Anyway, I spent my remaining cash on 10 southsun supply crates, also nothing. The only thing worthwhile was a mini faren.
TL:DR
Why did it have to be RNG chests again
You gave the answer yourself: It did have to be RNG chests because fools keep falling for it hoping it only sucks for everyone else but they will be fine.
I never implied I hoped it would suck for everyone else man. As I stated, I really wouldn’t mind some dungeon I would have to farm for the skins. I’d like fair chances for everyone to obtain those items. I know plenty of people who do not want the skin. Some do only for showing off how rich they are.
It just blows big time that you get presented with something really really great and then probably not be able to even obtain it while trying so hard. I mean legendaries are there for who want to spend time in it, they will still be here after the event. These weapons will be gone like the fused weapons, only the flame and frost event was way way longer than this event will be.
There is no monthly fee. Therefor they have to put stuff in the gem store like this so people will spend money on it. Or else they wouldnt make profit and the game would die out
Then you can still make the players pay gems for the skin itself, instead of an RNG box which the majority of the community already hates. There are more ways of earning cash than RNG boxes!
The boxes also drop (rarely) from southsun cove creatures so you may be able to do it without buying anything with gems.
I know, farmed for 2 hours last night with a pack of people. Had full MF gear on, I got nothing though, just 1 other person got 1 chest, also in full MF gear.
But that’s even worse, beat RNG for a chest and then you still have to beat another layer of RNG for a ticket xD
A guildie of mine got a box from her first event, opened it and got a ticket. Sure I am happy for her. I am just so kitten off that I opened 12 and got nothing but karka shells and some passion flowers. I’d like a fair chance for everyone to get their stuff.
If Arenanet makes fancy weapons, people want them anyway. What’s the harm in making the weapons purchasable alongside the RNG chests? They keep their gambling and some people get what they want in the game.
This RNG is the exact same reason why I quit Rift a long while ago. I remember an event where you have like a month time to farm all the water/death rifts for a special mount. I farmed for over hundreds of hours and got crap. Some guildies did under 10 rifts (under 2 hours) and got their mounts.
I am all for making people work/letting people pay for items, but do it with so people can be certain they can get what they want. I think you will find a really big crowd opening up their wallets.
Random Variable
Usually takes some time for people to realise that “having another go at it to try my luck” does not guarantee a drop.
What’s that they call… Oh that’s right, gambler’s fallacy!
Even so I ask myself if they would add the weapons with a gemprice attached to it to the store, if they wouldn’t be making even more cash than with the RNG boxes. I myself would be willing to pay around 700-800 gems per weapon and I would like atleast 6 of them. That’s already a nice amount of cash out of me. Ofcourse I would have to farm my kitten off for the gold so I would scrounge around for some money xD
I am a poor student
I spent all my cash on gems
HAHAHAHA brilliant! absolutely had a blast with that video. That being said, there is absolutely no relevance of your comment on the issue I am trying to adress :P
Wow. They revive a dead zone, make it sandbox-friendly, add a fun little minigame and make it actually useful to your wallet to venture to again…
And you’re all depressed about the RNG THAT HAPPENS IN EVERY EVENT? The RNG that gives Anet the cash it needs to keep GW2 alive?
You must not be a very happy person.

Oh you poor students that cant aford A PRETTY LOOKING WEAPON IN GAME! Certainly not a first world problem! Now im sure that student next door to me that is working night shifts to pay rent and bills have some serious first world problems.
I’ll skip the facepalming part of your own post where you claim to be poor but spend your money on gems for a game.
I spent my remaining cash on 10 southsun supply crates, also nothing.
Why did it have to be RNG chests again
You answered your own question.
It’s RNG chests again because of poor gullable saps like you that pay for RNG chests regardless of your disdain for it. Anet doesn’t have monthly fees, and they get more money through RNG thanks to YOU. You want Anet to stop having RNG? Then stop buying their RNGs.
It’s really that simple. Anet isn’t some mustache twirling villain. They’re a company. They do what gets them money based on empirical data – and that data is saying “our fans are buying our RNG, and its getting us lots of money because they keep buying our RNG in hopes of getting that one item they want.”
You’re complaining about the problem, but the cause of it all boils down to you being among the cause of it.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

The answer is simple, they make more money off of RNG. You may spend $50, $60, $70, etc. to keep trying because many people think “I’ll just try it once more time” then fail and next paycheck they try yet again. Whereas most of those same people would complain or not even buy a skin that cost $60 up front. In the end the RNG generates quite a bit more cash. Business sense is what it is in this world.
They will only stop if the community starts boycotting the items and they have to look at other ways to generate the cash.
They have to make money somehow. We would not have any of this content at all if it weren’t for the Gemstore. I don’t really like the chance in chests to get the weapon skins, but I am happy that this MMO does not have a monthly fee.
200g for 50 crates no weapon ticket.

Actually it relates perfectly
Now shut the full cup
So let’s see:
-you don’t have enough money for gems
-you don’t have enough time to play the game
But it seems you want the rewards anyways?

Maybe if we just take one person and torture them in the most horrific ways imaginable every day of their life, suddenly nobody will care about their own problems anymore.
Alternatively, that could be completely pointless.

This is not how it works.
Adding in these tickets back to back rng is what makes the game die. The game is making plenty of money to stay alive. If they keep adding these money sinks people will get tired of the rip off and then the game dies. Nothing but greed.
To another post yes he has no money and has no gold and yes he wants the rewards.
Its a game for fun they make this a race because you can’t farm the tickets by playing(in a game you should be able to) so people spend money. I know the crates drop but its at a very silly drop rate even with all the magic find on top of that the tickets have a very silly drop rate from the crate.
..How nice people are here, attacking and lashing out like this. ._.’
Not that I really made it any better with that remark but.. really people, calm down.
Yes, anet is a company. True, no monthly fee for the game. Yes, that results in that they have to have a gem store where people can buy highly wanted items.
No, I don’t personally believe that those items have to be RNG but as a few state, they do it because it’s economically succesful for them. People buy those chests hoping to get that item they want, and they think “ah, just one more time”, only to keep buying till their wallet grows legs and quits.
But I do have a hard time thinking that anet DOESN’T make money off the gem store. Minipets are easily popular, for instance. They could also include a lot more town clothing. Weapon and armor skins to buy, including these.
Combining this with the chests? Well, I think a fair solution could be “You can either try your luck with a cheap chest, or just buy the item for x# amount of gems of the chest’s price.”
Not working for a game company or anything though, I can only imagine there’s probably a lot of work to make that function well, but I think a solution like that could balance things and make people who don’t want to spend their entire salary on a game be happy too.
the chests drop a lot for my friend, I get 1 a day usually, but, in 30 days that will be 30 chests, plus im earning a ton of gold for buying some with gold too, since they are only about 4.75g and I can get that pretty fast with this new magic find cap of 200% more. note: I don’t even have ascended gear, but am saving laurels for an amulet someday.
