Well thats really great to hear, I also agree. For awhile there has been a lack of event chain on the island. Its nice to see this coming!!! Should bring liveliness to the zone after the living story there ends.

I hope the karka queen has a somewhat different model than standard karka (maybe body parts similar to sclerite stuff)

I hope Kakra Queen has body parts similar to the sclerite stuff. It’d also be cool the adds in events actually dropped loot (unlike the change to spiders in Orr)

It does make sense. Nowhere did he mention “technical” issue but just a small issue – either the person responsible to post/edit notes being unavailable or being busy working on it or was having donuts while Robert was posting this.

I’m curious why the dungeon for the Flame & Frost was not permanent… that would be great. And I am pleased to hear that this meta event is permanent. Thanks Anet!

Please Robert, do tell me why the dungeon for F&F was not considered to be permanent. I"m curious. And is there any way they can change that if the players really really want it. Thanks.

They changed it 11 hours ago by adding “And beginning June 5…” O_o

Great news! Hopefully this will draw more people onto the island on a regular basis. sounds like it’ll be a great incentive for more to participate.

What do permanent boss+chest mean?
Permanent boss from my understanding is similar to a dragon event for example but what is a permanent chest? Something u get only once and never get again (that means ppl will never do that event more then once) or something that u constantly get like dragon events chests /day or what?

My understanding is it will be a new world boss w/ chest just like Jormag’s Claw or the Fire Elemental in Metrica Province.

Permanent as in the same chest drops with the Dragons, with the Fire Ele, The Golem, Jungle Wurm, etc, etc…

It’s that persons bosses fault for not properly reviewing the patch note before being posted! Anet management is more to blame because they have final say.

If the person writing the patch note got in trouble for it. That was just wrong. His/her boss should have done a better job checking the patch notes. That’s part of their job.

Accidents happen, kids. Sheesh. I can’t wait to take the Karka queen on!

Good to hear that the Karka Queen will be remaining after the event is over. A World Boss is an excellent way of ensuring people continue to visit Southsun Cove. I do feel a bit bad for the Karka though; poor things just can’t seem to catch a break. XD

Next week-ish, these two events (Crazed Karka Queen Killer & Contractually Obligated) will still count towards the “Southsun Stalwart” Achievement, correct?

As stated on the main site:
All of these achievements (and all the prior achievements for The Secret of Southsun) will no longer be available for acquisition after the conclusion of the event on June 11.

Success and failure happens as a team, and no individual is purely responsible in these moments. It’s as much a failure of the patch notes is it is of mine not to have read the patch notes as closely as I should have.
It’s not my job to write the notes or to market the material, but it is my job to ensure what they are about to say is factually correct and accurate. I and my team failed to do that, so we share just as much responsibility as they do.
Lessons were indeed learned from the experience, and we’re changing a few procedures around to try and ensure something like this doesn’t happen again.
