Dear ANet, thanks for giving a single player instance to progress the story. Next time could you make it so that we can actually use the skills our characters have in the rest of the game rather than some gimmicky everyman device?

For the Canach thing, hell – you could have let us temporarily play as Inspector Kiel for the whole thing and it would have been the same. Actually why didn’t she and her charr lackey just go ahead and capture Canach? They didn’t need to have any special abilities or any combat experience. All they needed was a mine detector, many of which were already in the cave (like right beside them)? :/

Also, can you let our characters ask how much we are being paid to do a task before doing it? Some of us aren’t as noble as the rest. ;p

My wife and I tried multiple times and just don’t have the reflexes we used to so we ended up with nothing but repair bills. That in mind I truly hope they haven’t been irresponsible enough to make this content necessary for the story to progress because if that is the case, they should hang their heads for thumbing their noses at the middle age and over player base, not to mention any potentially physically challenged players (details I don’t care to share here).

Some people… are never satisfied; hey lets make this all cinematics so that it is easy enough for everyone to watch… oh wait… blind people wouldn’t be able to enjoy it then… oh snap.

Curse you sports: some people can’t play them!

We can all die (I think…) so why not just give everyone a suicide pill??? That levels the playing field….

Seriously… everyone thinks they are entitled to everything without actually doing anything. just because they have some excuse. There are plenty of people that choose to adapt rather than just give up and say “durr I can’t do this because I am expected not to due to hurrp reason.”

Sollith I think you’ll find many blind people don’t play MMORPGs, at best they play MUDs. :P

Vlad – not to worry, this fight is not a requirement to advance the story (my wording in first post was bad, sorry) – it just shows how Kiel captures Canach by making use of an idiot to do her job for her (us). Also, Canach spills some beans on his grand schemes.

If you and your wife decide to retry here are some tips:
1 – the red mines will not explode unless you literally bump into them or Canach does his “detonating bombs” move – keep an eye on the chat log. Bumping into them is survivable. Canach detonating them (or you detonating them wrongly) is not.

2 – When you first enter, there’s a pillar that goes to the roof to the left of your view. To the right of it (from that view) and right beside it is a “bomb” mine. Use “2”. Don’t worry about any of the other mines, just avoid them and play merry-go-around using “2” on that one device and try keep Canach on the opposite side of the pillar to you – he’ll be dumb enough to wander into it while trying to get around the pillar.

You don’t even need to scan once you know what mines are where.

3 – If he arms the mines you have 3-5 seconds to get near the short climbable stones where he starts. There’s a safe spot there, just stand in the water. There’s a bigger safe spot in the further pool, but will make your run to and from the pillar longer.

4 – While the bombs are coming back (yellow) just run around the pillar again. Don’t worry too much about Canach hitting you. You’ll survive even if he bumps you into a mine.
