I enjoy the game, however, my real life will not allow me to play the game constantly. I can only get in the game for few hours a week. Because of this I cannot get through the achievements in the time allowed or be available for the one time mega events. This is very frustrating.

I tried to complete Frost and Flame content and was thwarted at the end by a bug in the dungeon that kicked out my party on the second attempt after we defeated the insane boss fight. We couldn’t destroy the facility after that and therefore did not get credit. Spending a couple of hours playing the game was fun, but I didn’t have time to try it again. After a few days later when I came back to try again it was gone. I only had a couple of achievements left. The time was much too short for me.

Because of this, I have no interest in trying to play this new content. I don’t want to start something that I cannot finish, due to the deadline oriented content. I like the game, I play when I can and will keep playing, but I also feel cheated out of the new content experience because of this.

I’m just trying to get that pointy thing out of my back.

The F&F dungeon was around for almost 2 weeks. If you couldn’t free up some time to find 30-60 min somewhere in a weekend to complete this story mode dungeon then I’d say you should have a look at your work + “social obligations” and do something about them.

In addition, the stuff that’s around so far for the Southsun story can be completed in 1-2 evenings in terms of achievements (collecting samples can be done in as little as an hour for example) if you want to do all of them. To get both backpacks you don’t even need all achievements however.

The last weekend I helped my brother, my fiancée and a few of my friends to compleate F&F from beginning to the end, they had around 3h total and everyone accept two of my friends got the whole F&F done, the other two didn’t have time to play when we where playing so they missed my deadlines and didn’t play F&F without me.

I myself have 1 hour a day give or take to put into this game accept weekends when I can lay down all my sparetime on the game if I wan’t. Anyway I managed to compleate all ATM possible Achievements on Southsun cove in two hours, the hardest part was the crabb toss achievements but… they are extra fun ^^

To be made ONLY for Gemstore promotions I must say they have failed utterly to hook me.
I have enjoyed playing F&F and The Secret and are looking forward alot to see what awaits the 28th.
I haven’t spent a single gem during these event’s but I don’t think I would enjoy them more if I did.
Also, I am not finding the content sloppy or badly made for that matter other than the copypasted hut’s around Southsun cove.

Atleast that’s my opinion, the living story is realy interesting and if they can keep it up like this, atleast I will play as long as the story continues.

This time you really don’t have to worry about the time. You can complete 25 achievements needed for backpacks in about 2 hours. In that time you’ll see most of the new content. In spare time you can grind crab achievements and wait for new update.

Try the new content and don’t worry – few hours a week is a lot more than you need.

I completed the 25 achievements in about 2 hours. Of course, reading Dulfy’s guide and having a friendly mesmer portal you on the stepping stones JP helps (don’t forget to tip or at least thank the mesmer)… and now I have both backpacks gathering dust on my bank because they don’t really fit the look of any of my level 80 chars (just like the fused gauntlets ticket)…

They made it incredibly easy to get the new back pieces. I finished all the achievements the first few hours it was released.

While I agree with you that temporary content is a load of crap for anyone who has a life, I got my octopus back piece in about 2 hours in one night of work. This even is even shorter and easier than F&F.

F&F was quite boring up until the dungeon, which was amazing. So far im really enjoying secret in southsun. Feel much more drawn into the plot and theres plenty more to do. I still have reasons to go back to Southsun every day. Its active and i can get good mats from gathering and farming with the magic find boost. With F&F it was just 30 mins when new achievements were released to get them done and then never visit the zones again until the next patch.

The new content achievements can be done ridiculously fast. If I am not mistaken, it involves killing 10 guys and running around Southsun a bit gathering samples/talking to people/eating omelettes and skinny-dipping.

I played through it slowly, because I was primarily trying to do events etc. I am sure you can complete this in one sitting easy.

Two weeks of temporary content may be too little, because people on holydays may not get back in time.

That said, Southsun is quite friendly to those that can only play and hour or two every two weeks. If you want the backpieces and you see me ingame, send me a whisper and I will take you to a free of charge, hour long “easy achievements collection tour” which guarantee one of the backpieces now and you can get the another another after May 28. I hang out in Sorrows Furnace.

I’m really enjoying this island now. I’ll miss all the fun.
