  • For balancing, Subdirector Null will now be immune to conditions after his first shield phase. Mine warnings will also stop showing to increase the difficulty.

Is it me or it this kind of extreme? I know it’s a really short dungeon but null is really hard to beat now… especially for condition builds like necros.

What abramelin said. Sometime between day one and the last patch after his inital sheild NULL was immune to all conditions.
This has now been fixed (as well as the random bomb explions on disarm.)
I must say the fight is now much better. Challenging without being broken.

He takes condition damage now.
I still haven’t had a successful run though. 14 runs that failed.
Also, why the hell is he so focused on ranger pets and other summons? I can’t lead him anywhere when he is dancing with a ranger’s bear. Engineer’s turrets auto explode a mine, if the turret happens to be in the mines aoe ring. Ranger pets and ranged summons often explode mines. Null’s Heal turrets spawn faster than one person can handle.

Rage and rampent energy and getting pushed or pulled into a mine, all at once. If someone tries to rez you the golem is just going to aoe spin you both, or you and the other three trying to rez you, and they will all go down as you die. If they leave you then we simply die one by one… in fractions of seconds. the rage electricity damages at an amazing rate.
Several times I have shot the fire mine closest to the entrance gass mines with the appropriate shot, it often explodes when I shoot it, the gas mine and the caltrops just beyond it work fine.

I am just truly frustrated.

If I can get people to agree, I am going to have to get summoners to not summon, unless they are mesmers (they will have to be ready to shatter kitten quick) Rangers will have to be always ready to press f3. I honestly don’t know what to do about the healing turrets.

I guess at the very end we all need to grab guns and make every mine green and lead null through every single one. Attacking just isn’t working, we can never quite kill him. We always get painfully close, and nearly always die in unison.

Yes it is better with this fix but its still buggy as hell. Sometimes he instantly activates his shield after its ripped off him.
Only the Partyleader gets the chatmessage that NULL is going to detonate or override the mines, so the other members are like wtf when he is detonating them.
He loves to detonate his mines, even if they just exploded right in his face. ( Yes the detonated mine can still explode and this shouldn’t be possible ) or if the mines just barely spawned and are yellow, so you have no chance to override them and use them against him. Oh and sometimes he does it without an animation.

If he is spamming his shield and mine detonation in the softenrage phase than you have no chance defeating him.

And if you have bad luck, then you don’t get a reward.

Don’t get me wrong. I love challenging bossfights but with the bugs and issues, this is not a challenging bossfight. It’s just like. " I had more fun fighting Zhaitan than this bugged crap"

I’m sure this can be a good bossfight. The mechanics are good ideas and I see how this can be fun if they fix the bugs and issues with NULL

We tried him last night and although we got him down to the point where the electrical debuff kicks in that is as far as we got, we just did not have the dps to take him out in time. Our party consisted of a Guardian, Ranger, Engineer, Mesmer and and Ele. What I do not understand is that debuff is a condition but no amount of condition removal will get rid of it. He has no cooldown on his “pulls” and even with stability my Guardian was being yanked around like a ping pong ball.

Not everyone is adept at these types of dungeon bosses yet it looks like they have set the difficulty at an elite level and they way they set that difficulty is just frustrating to the average player, especially if you do not have the DPS needed for the final phase.

This feels odd. I just did Null duo with a friend because no one else was online from our guild. We had no idea what to expect and it took us 3 tries. We honestly couldn`t imagine him being any kind of difficult with a full group…

We are Guardian (as much DPS as is healthy for a guard) and Necro (condition + healing). We just pulled him to a corner of the room and facetanked him there disabling the closest 2 mines whenever we could. When one of those lightning elementals came close we just evaded and ran around a bit till it was gone.

There really wasn`t much action going on and it didn`t really feel exciting. I can`t imagine where those problems with a full group could come from. It`s definitely not the DPS.

ive pugged him about 15 times a lot of times with pretty good players. We can’t do it. This is very frustrating and makes me not wish to play this content. There needs to be a challenge but not something that angers people.

Hmm, Sounds like he’s still bugging so I’ll throw in a few tips that have worked for me.
If you have a tanky type chatracter in the party let them wail on him solo for about 30 secconds while everyone disarms some mines (good practice) at the begining on of the fight and the boss should stick to him like glue.
If not make sure moves together to the nearest mine when his sheild comes up. Always try to have one mine ready to drag him into before he puts up his sheild (not always possible but try)
If He gets his sheild up while all the mines are up go get a mine detector and get ready to disarm one. If everyone disarms a mine then drags him over them all you’ll make up the lost damage of him being shiedled.
Remember where the mines are. They always respawn in the same place and are the same type.
I HATE that he doesn’t give a vocal cue as to what he’s doing but when he spins in place he’s rearming all the mines (any green ones will turn red)
When he starts punching the ground he’s detonating them all. Again there REALLY should be a vocal cue for this.
As for pets rangers should be ready to recall their pet if he’s stuck on them to drag him over a mine. Uncontrolable pets should only be summoned after his sheild is removed. Turrents can be safly placed so as not to set of mines but they’ll still fall prey to the electric balls.
Also, Only bother going for the healing turrets if they are close by or he is sheilded while all mines are down.
Lastly it really helps to do the solo version to come to grips with mines, them detonating and kiting into a boss into them.

anyway finally beat him… 2 warriors, a guardian, a thief, and me (condition mesmer)
I was basically bait, when my clones weren’t up null followed me everywhere. So I would shatter when his shield came up, and run to the nearest green mine. Before that I was trying to 4 man null, so We didn’t have the other warrior, the others insisted we get more dps, an it worked.

There you have it folks it takes 4 dps and a squishy class to beat null. Only one squishy, so you can lead null with ease.

Substitute a squishy with a ranger pet if you like. Lol I can’t imagine trying to beat him with several ranger pets out. From what I have seen null likes summons most of all, then eles>mezes>necros

Huh, ran null today with a warrior, guardian, necro, and another mezmer. We won fairly quickly. I guess when everyone knows what they are doing it will run smoothly. Now that I think about it, most, if not all of my failed runs had one or more people who wouldn’t listen when we told them about nulls shield. They would either run all around the cave in a panic, or stand there attacking null (which kept null in one place and away from any green mines.) Upon reflection; I don’t want anet trying to program content around fools. I feel silly for blaming anet for player errors.
