What is the main “idea” of SoS? Is it a new map? New mobs? New level max? I guess I am not perceiving this all correctly…

We are going back to Southsun Cove, but something is happening there.

It’s a new storyline.

Trouble is brewing on the tropical island of Southsun Cove.

The merchants and traders of The Consortium have given shelter to refugees driven from their lands by the Molten Alliance, but many of these new arrivals feel more like prisoners than guests. With the new settlers on the verge of rioting and someone—or something—driving the local wildlife to new heights of aggression, it’s up to you and Lionguard Inspector Kiel to quell the violence and discover the Secret of Southsun!

It’s somewhat connected to Flame & Frost, but it’s also something completely new, and we have to find out why.

It’s just going to be some new events, and some new story set in the Southsun Cove map they introduced back in November. The living story is not about changing mechanics like level caps, but about giving us something to do while giving the devs something around which to theme their patches.

Just another living story segment – it’ll probably feel like Flame & Frost: Prelude, except on a sunny beach instead.

This story will be faster than Flame & Frost though. Flame & Frost lasted some months, Secrets of Southsun will only last 1 month, so they are speeding some things up.

Okay, cause I never did FaF or Retribution, so I really don’t know what I am goin to do in SoS. Is this story for 80? Or any level?

Well, it’s basically a new story. You will do events, completing achievements, perhaps getting a vanity item or so.

You didn’t miss anything much during FaF or Retribution.

You literally just did a couple of mini quests, listen to a Norn and a Charr ramble along about things that really doesn’t affect you, and in the end do a dungeon with a boss.
At the end of it all, go to a bonfire and get at 24 hour buff.

Don’t worry about the upcoming Southsun event.
It’ll probably be more mini quests, some crab throwing minigame and finally end with another dungeon. You’ll probably also be upleveled to lvl80 to do the dungeon like the same as the FaF dungeon.

Usually just unique looking items or skins for items. Flame and Frost gave a skin or such for a pair of Gauntlets.

Well, vanity item is more like a ‘fun’ item. Like the town clothes from the gemstore, the drill, the broom, the dance book, etc.

Such items, they are called vanity items, because they don’t really do anything except looking good and are fun to use.

There won’t be a dungeon. SoS will be one month lasting story, once it’s over, a new storyline that somehow is caused by SoS will happen.
