You get diminishing returns after ~30 minutes – 1 hour, which decreases your chances as you spend more time farming for crates.

I spent 2 hours :O in Southsun before remembering.

I did several hours in southsun last night and eventually scooped 2 crates towards the end. If DR were going to kick in it should have done it hours before.

What is the solution? They never drop for me and it makes me sad little sylvari.

played in southsun cove for well over 20 hours and only found one crate.

its a lucky thing. i got 93 ecto in 2 hours from zerging sc

Yep, pretty much. IMO best thing I can get out of them are more passion flowers. The rest is just gravy.

Earlier today I opened a crate and got passion flowers and another crate of passion flowers.

I guess they’re bigger on the inside, or something…

Don’t try to farm crates, it’s waste of time. Just play and hope for a drop.

Farming anything in SS is farming crates. They’re worth a good 50s minimum, potentially more (one of mine had four passion flowers, thirteen karka shells), so much better than a normal rare even if you get crap.

Gotten 20 so far, ranging 350-417 magic find, not hardcore farming. It really isn’t that bad.

Not got a single crate drop here, my occasional farming buddy (with about half the time spent on it) has got 2. I’m not farming crates, I’m farming karka shells … if a crate happens then I’ll be pleased (probably only briefly) but that’s not why I’m there.

It’s good to keep your expectations low, because then you won’t be as disappointed when you don’t get one. They ARE a rare drop after all and only the very lucky get anything considered to be ‘good’.

I got my weapon ticket from the 2nd box farmed in about 1 hour in. RNG is king.

I got one box from the first thing I killed in Southsun for the event, and didn’t get another through all the rest of the time I spent there. No ticket of course.

Since the weapons skins do not interest me in the slightest, I do not farm the area for crates. I farm the area for karka shells and blood (and largely thanks to the karka farm I have a full stack of Powerful blood now).

I usually get 1-2 crates per run, though, and sometimes they contain interesting stuff (like my brand new ship-in-a-bottle focus skin). It’s always nice to get them to see what goodies they have inside (and I’m perfectly happy to get more karka shells and passion flowers), but they are not on my lot-to-find list.

Which is probably why I get so many. I don’t really want or need them, so I get more. That’s my superstition regarding RNG.

I’m sure not going to be buying any, either. Not worth the gems.

-Establish which thing drops what.
-Pick a thing that has good potential drops and kill rate.
-Murder things until you can’t see any.
-Move to a place with more of them.
-Murder those.
-Establish circuit for maximum murder-to-travel ratio.
-Start music, follow circuit.
-???
-Profit.

I got 7 crates in one night of farming skelk( wasn’t going for crates). As far as I can tell, DR is cyclical. It seems to go away for a few minutes, and in that window is when all the good stuff comes. Then it kicks back in and you won’t get much until it goes away again.

The young karka and the skelk in particular drop T6 blood.

However, thanks to the 200% MF buff from the negotiator, as usual I’m getting nothing but junk (the occasional shells) from normal karka and crazed alike.

I haven’t managed to hit any type of DR as yet, unlike the poster above me (translation, The Witch’s Hammer). I decided to go with the coin buff as I can do more with real in-game currency than MF (hopes and dreams).

Where did you get the information on diminishing returns? Also, is that supposed to affect all rares or just the boxes?

None of the stuff in the Crates interests me particularly, so I haven’t been going out of my way to farm them. I’ve just been exploring Southsun, killing things that get in my way. Got a bunch of Potent Blood, but not a lot of Powerful Blood. Got a fair number of Large/Armored Scales too. I had one Crate drop for me, but it contained just Passion Flowers/Fruits/Karka Shells.

Some people have reported incredible drops from the Instigator chests, but that’s probably just them being lucky (and remembering that MF does not affect chest drops). The best I’ve gotten out of them is some Rares. Ironically, I’ve gotten more Exotics from playing Crab Toss than farming. XD

Now see thats something I was thinking about too.

I have only found crates when I had low MF on, I got two from the exact same spot on different days , although one came from one of those personal wooden chests (that is 99% of the time filled with pile of putride essence of me ) and the other came from reef rider in the same spot.

The others have come from a mosquito and a reef rider on the ice drift bit?

None had a ticket, nor was i expecting one, hell i didnt even get a fused weapon ticket mostly because i didnt open any boxes.

Better off farming gold elsewhere and exchanging the money you earn into gems to buy crates, would save you a pain in the kitten
