Today I set out to not only get my Crab Tosser Achievement but kinda made it my personal goal to make sure everyone who entered my Crab Toss Instance got it as well. Talking with the other players I set up a queue system and allowed everyone to get theirs. At one point my Instance was completely empty and I got mine but I stayed and helped others complete it as well. I have seen a lot of people on the forums and in game complaining about how difficult it is and I agree people get a bit to competitive but stick it out and pull together as a community and it becomes easier. Just ask the 40 people who got their Crab Toss Champion title with me today.

Tips and Tricks:
Be polite and use Say chat.
Don’t feed the trolls
Some people don’t want to participate don’t yell or get upset let them do it and they will leave
If you don’t leave after the match your group stays together
Communication is key
Don’t talk down to other players
Lastly Make a Queue and stick to it as best as possible it gets really fun after a while 5 people with fishing poles going after each other while the crab carrier gets their win is actually really fun and Plank Wars are a blast.
Everyone in your group has their win? Don’t leave yet. Play Hot potato with the Crab for Crab Grab and Carry points.

I really hope you got your achievements using my advice. Crab Toss can be a lot of fun if you go about it from a different angle then people try too.

I prefer to earn my titles on my own merit, but I commend you on the charitable and friendly attitude you’ve brought to the table. Plank Wars and Fishing Duels do sound rather fun if you’re not after any of the titles or the loot.

Honestly, rigging matches for achievements should be grounds for removal of said achievement. It’s like rigging matches to farm glory. You’re not a Crab Toss Champion if you didn’t actually compete in crab toss, and you’re not a Crab Grabber when people are handing you the crab.

Just remove the titles completely from these activites, or enforce a ban on rigged matches so people that actually want to play the game aren’t accused of “trolling” by… playing the game without cheating.

I really think this game should’ve been a Cooperative arena instead of competitive. I think it’s more fun when players are trying to keep the crab away from the Karkas instead of from each other.

For those who cannot do the challenge for a variety of reasons this is a nice alternative. It also gives people a good way of learning how to actually play the game without it being totally frustrating by being overwhelmed by game dominators. These were definitely the most fun to play since we were competing yet working together. And yes crab hot potato is a lot of fun. The all out blood or nothing folk were not to my taste and sucked the fun right out of even attempting to try for anything – I left quite a few of those before finding the helpful players. Hubby tried quite a few times also and gave up in frustration. I was not looking for an easy get to the achievement but was looking for a more level playing field where everyone there got a chance at getting the points they needed and learned what moves they needed to make in the process. I got lucky and fell into groups on several days who were showing people how it was played and it built up my confidence for this game. I never tried the Keg Toss before but because of this positive experience I will.

I was in a very fun arena where we were all going for crabtacular. All but 2 people were very willing, but 2 people with fishing poles and 2 people with planks made it so that it didn’t matter if they wanted to cooperate or not, we left them no choice lol.

Would love to find a group like this to get the achievements and would willingly stick around to help others after. Crab toss is doing my head in at the moment.

Isle of Janthir has had groups in mid afternoons EST helping out folk on at least two days that I know of. It may be hit or miss to find the instance they are in but found them on my first try both days I went in. Usually they will tell you right out what they are doing as well.

I don’t have a problem with your post, and I’m not at all filled with rage. This is simply an honest opinion. Imagine hotjoining sPvP, killing some guy, standing on a point, and then getting yelled at by all the other players for “Trolling” because they were trading kills for gladiator titles.

People get disciplined for that behavior.

This is essentially the same thing. You’re rigging for achievements, and disrupting play for people that actually want to play the game.

Does this sort of thing happen at night too, or at least where there’s less players? I literally hate this mini-game and I spent an hour trying to get Crab Toss to no avail, so very frustrated, I’m OCD and just want the title.

I’ll agree that it’s extremely annoying to get stun-locked by players with Planks/Fishing Rods (although in my cases, it was a few griefers who wanted to annoy the kitten out of other players), but if you end up in a game where people are obviously trying to get the achievements, why not just leave and rejoin? There’s no penalty for leaving early, and you can find another game where they’re playing normally. Let them do their own thing, and we’ll go do our own thing in another arena.

Problem with “disrupting the game for people who actually want to play” is sometimes those who “actually want to play” keep everyone else from getting anything at all game after game after game. That is why there are the instances. If one style of play is not your cup of tea, move to another where you can slam dunk others over and over and over with your crabtastical skills so they are awed and amazed. But allow those who may not have your skills to have a chance in other instances where they get help, support and some amount of fun out of playing this game.

Honestly you won’t upset me. What you’re accusing me of is a clear violation of the ToS so please do report me if this is how you feel.

Rigging crabtacular is understandable since it is completely luck based and has no title. I myself rigged that one. However, you don’t really deserve the crab toss champion achievement or title if you can’t win even ONE GAME on your own. And crabgrabber is an inevitability if you just play the game normally for a small while, so I have no sympathy for anyone too lazy to get it the legit way. If I ever see anyone rigging any of those two achievements all I can say is: looks like noob is back on the menu boys!

What ever happened to achievements being achievements? As soon as an achievement comes along that has even the tiniest skill requirement (like these ones), lazy people go up in arms that they aren’t given everything just for logging in.

I was doing crab toss normally till one guy call for crabtacular boosting. And I was leading on that game.
Saw people trying to gather in the middle so I decide to play along.But someone getting impatience enough to call me a troll.When I just trying to line up the group to the karka roll path while there is another guy trying to snatch crab.So i decide to just throw crab into the group.Let that group figure out the situation.

It take another game till the that group starting to get achievement.while I got crabtacular and 2 wins in a row.

What is the point in ahcievments if you don’t actually achieve them?

It actually feels pretty bad, when 75% of the competitors say that let’s do achievments instead of playing normally – and guess who is the troll then? – the guy who actually wants to play the game as it is, the normal, standard way.

In my oppinion, this is an exploit.

(Edit: not saying it’s anything worth really to get all fussed about, but still, it is)

The problem is, this minigame depends terribly on your connection. If you lag even a little, you won’t see where the crab goes/who has got the crab for a couple seconds.
Thus you won’t be able to actually compete with players who don’t have this problem.. Sure, you may get the crab now or then. But winning…heh, no way.
Also, some classes abilities infer with the normal play (such as aegis, signets for movement speed and so on). This makes it even less nice for certain classes.

Anyway, if there are so many people wanting to get the achiement cooperating instead of playing, maybe it is also because the game
a) isn’t that fun to them
b) is temporary, and so you must do it in a limited timeframe.

I’m going to weep for a while from knowing your server world is even social enough to consider such a thing.

But in the end, I’ve come to support removing the achievements related to crab toss altogether. It seems far more likely to promote hostility among players than respect or enjoyment.

What? No it doesn’t. Crab Toss is a PvP activity, not a PvE event :P
