What the heck is Sclerite!?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sclerite
" In various branches of biology the term is applied to various structures, but not as a rule to vertebrate anatomical features such as bones and teeth. Instead it refers most commonly to the hardened parts of arthropod exoskeletons and the internal spicules of invertebrates such as certain Porifera and soft corals. Used as a universal term of convenience, the word is vague and takes different meanings according to various needs. For example, the trend not to refer to say, vertebrate teeth as sclerites, is arbitrary, and the so-called sclerites of sponges have very little to do with the sclerites of arthropods."

D’oh! Scooped!
Great. Now could anyone explain where the eyeball and goo stuff is suppoed to be coming from? Where in the game world do they fit? They don’t seem related to Canach OR Karka…
I don’t think there is any lore behind it, if that’s what you are looking for. Probably just a cool looking skin that people would want to get and that they wanted to release during an event. You know, like how Canach’s appearance changed completely and no NPC seemed to notice it. There WAS an “explanation” for that in the forums, but it sounded more like an excuse for something that was not thought through. I wouldn’t be surprised if the same happened with the skins.

So the tentacles on the backpack just so happened to be like the ones in the Karka Hive, yet they did nothing with the lore whatsoever.
All the hype about the “secret” of Southsun Cove, and the text alongside the backpack, the “Consortium” harvesting sickle which just so happened to have the same design, yet they did NOTHING at all…
I’m sorry ArenaNet, but in the world of Indie Games, we call that bad game design. You’ve basically created a plot hole in the lore.
