Guild Wars 2

It seems strange to me one wasn’t placed there. Not only do several events occur and/or pass through there, but there’s not a WP even remotely near it (compared to how other zones are laid out with liberally placed WPs).

I imagine it is because Southsun is supposed to be a dangerous place (the whole story is based on this) and the lack of a waypoint at driftglass means that players NEED to move past hostile mobs on the island(s) to get to driftglass.

Story-wise, the resorts and settlements are just being built right now and maybe they didn’t get around to setting one up there yet. (Story-wise, I would think though that the research camp would be among the first locations to get a waypoint, though.)

It’s not really any closer than Kiel’s. I rarely ever see anyone at CR unless they’re wrapping up the escort event, most bounce between Kiel’s and Driftglass and you’d be going out of your way to port to CR from Kiel’s for that.

Unfortunately, due to the run to Driftglass from either Kiel’s or CR it’s easy to miss events. By the time you get there you just have to turn around and go back half the time. Maybe not so much for the instigators, but definitely for the others.

Also, like I said, it’s based on WP proximity in other zones. At least it’s been my experience to have an event hotspot without a WP within spitting distance is rare.

Normally if there’s an event, I’m assuming the riot instigator, the wp will be contested. Having the wp will not do you any good.

Only the wildlife attacks make the wp contested, or at least that’s how it works at Kiel’s.

The WP by the ship in the NE corner is contested and I always see the instigator event up there.

Pretty sure that’s bugged, it’s contested even if there aren’t any events going on. Heck, second(third maybe?) night of the event every WP in overflow was contested with no events going on at any of them. I was happy to finally get back to GoM because at least half of the WP’s were open anyhow. Instigator doesn’t make any of the WP’s contested as far as I can tell.

Oh. I just always saw that event up so assumed that was why. They likely will not add the wp until they add more to the map. After the 4th, the map will be dead again.

I hope they put some permanent content there after this event is over, it’d be nice to have a meta event or something that keeps me going back there. I doubt I’m going to be farming karkas solo once there’s no zerg.

Oh is that what that zergs are doing? I had to do a double-take when I first saw one. I thought I was back in WvW.

Yeah they’re farming karka/skelk and going back and forth between the Instigator spawns.
