Black-Red-Green colour significance.
Clearly Sarkhan Vol is behind this.
Scarlett’s defacement of the Queens Speech page uses three colours; Black, Red and Green.
Can anyone see any significance to these?
A minor theory I had kept to the back of my mind regarding the Aetherblades was the diplomacy talks in Brisban Wildlands. These see the bringing together of Inquest, Nightmare Court and Bandits. We have already seen Inquest involvement in the Aetherblades, and Aetherblades themselves are “pirates”, which could equally mean “organised bandits”? Now we see a mysterious Sylvari character who is apparently also in league with the Aetherblades.
It’s a very big longshot. Could the Red paint symbolise Inquest, the Green paint symbolise Nightmare Court and the Black paint symbolise Bandits? Are the Aetherblades the result of the collusion of these three “evil” factions? The Aetherblades comprise Charr and Norn also, which does somewhat make this thinking a little less realistic.
I’d love to see this eventually open up the Maguuma Wastes, where perhaps this alliance is concealing itself for the most part.
I’m not convinced even by my own loosely-strung-together theories really, there are many other delicious ones, but has anyone else seen any connection between the Black, Red and Green paints? I refuse to believe they are random choices.
It actually sounds a lot more reasonable than some of the other theories I won’t mention. It’s entirely possible the color scheme of the vandalism is a clue to the origins of the aetherblades. Perhaps the Black could also symbolize the Flame Legion or Charr Renegades as the Aetherblades do have Charr members. If I was a suspicious person I could even say that the black was for the Black Lion Trading Company but I doubt there any connection between the two organizations.
Chaos always finds a way, who you think Evil learned it from?

Thanks!
It’s pretty loosely thought out, but, I had to wonder if there were other factions out there that these colours could be related to I’d overlooked. Flame Legion = Black, that could certainly fit given The Queen’s Speech will be a culmination of the Living Story so far.
Black for the Black Lion Trading Company made me smile. Evon will have his revenge!

Pretty sure she just found some paint she could use.
she’s green, she wears black and red.
don’t think too much about it.
pownguin and BrunoBRS clearly didn’t have their tinfoil hat on while reading this >_<

What’s evil about inquest and nightmare? Typical scientists and “Those who rejected the rules of some stupid centaur”.

Let’s begin with the Inquest. An NPC in Rata Sum mentions how the Arcane Council is finally considering expelling the Inquest from the city because “evil literally oozes out of their ears.” Next if you are of the Order of Whispers you meet a member who infiltrated the Inquest because the Order is concern they may be up to something big. The Inquest aren’t “typical scientists” they not researching for the sake of researching. They researching on methods that would place them on top. This is why they conducting extensive research into Dragon Energies instead of the usual projects of the non-inquest krewes.
As for the Nightmare Court that rather simply. Right now they focusing on ‘liberating’ their people from the tablet’s teachings. However they never expressed what they aim to do once they succeeded. In the beta I played a Sylvari and I noted how some of the memories were of the Asura experimenting on Sylvari. Perhaps they seek to use these depictions as ‘cause’ for a future war with the other races. Due to their own naive nature the Nightmare Court could turn out to be the most dangerous villains we have ever known. Sylvari are passionate in what they do even if it is something as simple as planting crops. The Nightmare Court’s passion has been pointed towards inflicting pain onto others. They believe that inflicting pain onto their fellow Sylvari will ‘liberate’ them from the ‘lies’ of the tablet.

What do they have in common? Colorblindness. Yep.
The Joker first appeared in February of 1951’s issue of Detective Comics #168, “The Man Behind The Red Hood”, as the ‘Red Hood’ .
Coincidence? I think someone at the office is a DC fanboy.
Green to signify Sylvari (if Scarlet is that blinker in the Opening Ceremony), and Red and Black are the colors of the Aetherblades.
I’ve felt a bit of resonance with the green splashes on the Jennah images thanks to the recent bizarre green paint vandalism of the National Cathedral, Lincoln Memorial, and so on. I’m preeeetty sure ArenaNet doesn’t intend an echo of that (may not even have heard of it, it was a small scale news story), but the green splashes are making me extra ticked off because of the RL … the kitten filter will get me if I say any of the terms I have in mind for it.
To the one saying that the Nightmare Court aren’t evil… Play Twilight Arbor explore mode. Nightmare court put innocent Sylvari into conversion pods which (as one Sylvari puts it) “feels like tiny teeth eating you from the inside” which basically traumatized her. Not to mention each of the bosses kills one of the other bosses in each path to get the honor of destroying the Grove.
There’s also that heart quest where you infiltrate a Nightmare Court camp disguised as a nightmare courtier. In short to get other Sylvari on their side they imprison them, possibly torture them, and terrorize them.
That’s pretty evil imo.
Perhaps the Black could also symbolize the Flame Legion or Charr Renegades as the Aetherblades do have Charr members.
Flame Legion and charr renegades wouldn’t work with humans. The Aetherblades are composed of all races.
Black, red and green are the colors of the pan-African flag.
We are getting Elona, people!
Green because she is Sylvari.
Red and Black because of this:

Something about feeding fellow Sylvari to your hounds (referenced in Twilight Arbor) strikes me as abjectly evil.
Oh, or feeding fellow Sylvari to spiders.
I honestly can’t fathom where people could start defending the Nightmare Court as not evil.
That’s just compulsory measures
I actually thought the colors might be significant as well, because those three colors looked very familiar for some reason. I went back through the previous LS announcement pages to see if any of those colors had been used before, and didn’t see them. I’ve looked a few other places, but can’t seem to figure out why they look familiar.
Well, if the mysterious figure we see during the opening ceremony is indeed Scarlet, well, she does have green skin and red (scarlet?) and black clothes..
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
I honestly can’t fathom where people could start defending the Nightmare Court as not evil.
Well I suspect Nightmare Court don’t consider themselves to be evil. The same can be said of Sons of Svanir, Inquest, White Mantle, Flame Legion, etc. It’s just a “different agenda”, one which they consider to be good, as it is in their interests. As a player who has been lead around by the story, and that sexy beast Trahearne, I consider them all to be evil. Perhaps some players do not…says a lot about them!
