Event champs nerfed. Frostgorge fails.
This is gonna happen even more as the week goes on. Then people who complained about the champ farm are going to complain again. Because no one will show up to do the events.

Try to get into an overflow server. At least then, you know the people there are for the event and not the regular champ farming zerg.
You’d think high level maps could give us decent opportunities to make money but nope, everything getting nerfed.
“I’m here to bearbow and chew bubblegum..and I’m all out of bearbow.”
Abloo blooo bloo now they won’t help us with champions because we cried about them farming champions!

I would rather fail because there are few players doing the event than fail because there are exploiters becoming rich by stalling and farming the event I’m trying to complete.

They’re not stalling your event. There is plenty of OTHER events around for you to finish while the farmers sit there and kill champions.
If you want to get mad, get mad at the sheeple that follow the Commanders without knowing what to do or whats going on because they don’t read or ask.
I fail to see why so many people are complaining. This new champ loot drop thing is FAR better than without it. Would you rather that the champs dropped nothing instead? I am still getting a lot of money from these invasions.

Every time I’ve gotten in an overflow it’s been full of farmers. I’ve completed the event in overflow once. On my home server I have a 100% completion rate.

if the event i want to complet is the one with the champion in then i should have the chance to complet it and not have some lousy farmers make it impossible because they want to farm champoins and there is no other event that gives me what i want then that one and i will get mad at all of them includeing the commander

Just got done with one. Haven’t actually noticed much change from before. Got about the same number of champs with 10-20 people as we were getting before with “too many to count”.
Make gold less important, make item drops more important. Soulbound/accountbound attainable items are far less problematic than the “must have moar” gold metagame we are playing right now.
But in fact the scaling is now better balanced. Champs don’t show up too quickly but still come when you have enough mass like before. Better than before, more balanced. Farming will go on as before even with this adjustment.
Kill minions as quickly as possible to get to the next phase, kill molten champs, farm pirates until event is over. That’s going to happen until this living story is over.
Champ loot in general will end up being time gated as always… Frostgorge Champ Train will not last forever. But probably will be this way for couple of more months.
The problem in general is that GW2 became a casual farming game. That’s all.
But the player majority seems to want it that way. Anet for sure checks the metrics on logins/playing time and what people did to decide for future content. The more a style of content is popular the more likely they will continue down the road. And nothing is easier just to spawn tons of mobs with better loot. Cheap, quick and obviously very popular.
Don’t worry I’m sure they’ll nerf the frostgorge champ farm soon. I don’t see how they can’t. I mean it is just as good as the Ember Farm was and they nerfed that.
You all do realize that if people are farming the champ train instead of zerging the event, then the individual events won’t scale up as much. Meaning you should still be able to complete them as they should be easier?
As far as I can tell they didn’t actually touch champ spawns, at all. You can still even run into champs while alone since some of the starting spawns still include one. The only thing this patch appears to have done is make the AB events even harder by adding Lts to them, champions still spawn from them at the same rate with the same numbers of people as before from what I can see.
I notice a lot of people like to whine on these forums about things they haven’t even verified for themselves.
First people cry about people killing the champions, now about people not killing the champions.
Great.
And they didn’t really nerf the champion spawns in the event at all, still coming out of the event with 30-40 pirate boxes.
Yea the people who are crying over a “nerf” to the invasion champs, I don’t really see it. I am still getting a lot of boxes, and still have to tell people to stop farming the aetherblades and move on or the event will fail.

New event just done in sparfly, it seemed about the same amount of champs?

You know, honestly?
I only experienced two fails in about eleven runs and both after the nerf. Neither one had a thing to do with champion farming, they both were the fault of inept organization and commanders. No one knew where the heck to go or who was at what so you had groups of headless chickens running about or following tags, hoping that was the right way and people who constantly whining “We’re not gonna make it” and just giving up with 12-15 minutes left on the final wave.

I totally agree. I have failed the event very few times and it usually was because:
1) it was on the first day and people had no idea what they were doing
2) I was guesting a low populated server like Vabbi and there simply weren’t enough people there. On those servers people actually give up on finishing the event and go for the champ farm.
3) The rest of the times it has been due to the same reasons that Aerlen stated. Bad organization and people whining in map chat.
My most epic success was when I ended up on some german overflow and we zerged trough all the aetherblades events. Never had I had that much loot and we completed the event within 25 minutes.
