Gambling Boxes
As soon as I read they were from the random purchased chests I lost interest in them.
Like many, I would happily give Anet my cash if they offered the skins straight up in the shop.
ANET has made it possible to buy the skins on the TP. With this in mind, you can buy gems, and convert them to gold, and then buy the skins off the TP. Not the most elegant of methods (or cheapest), but it at least makes it possible. Additionally, this is probably a lot cheaper of a method than with gambling boxes.
EDIT: Currently, the most expensive zodiac skin sells for 60g. While expensive, 60g isn’t out of the realm of possible to get, even without gems —> gold, especially considering how easy it has been to make gold here recently.

I hope you guys realize that if you don’t want to gamble, you can purchase them off the TP?
What you would like most may not be the best financial choice for the game.

I’d assume they’re likely going to see an influx of people buying gems here, in order to convert them to gold, as they skins are available on the TP. Probably will come out better ahead than just limiting acquisition to the BLCs.

At around 50 gold? Nah, I’ll pass. They are quite nice looking. Good job on the looks whoever designed them.

With the current price of gold to gems unless you got extremely lucky you’re pretty much guaranteed to spend 3x or more getting keys than what it would cost to just buy the skins. Not sure if people are just idiots or somehow a lot of people have won the rng lottery but the 55-60g for a skin is laughable compared to the cost of gems(with gold) to buy enough boxes to get 10 scraps(it’s literaly winning the lottery if you somehow get a full ticket).
I’m pretty sure that comes out to more than a 15 dollar sub. Miss the old days.
I thought they went for an interesting halfway point with at least one part of this event: the shoulders. After defeating Scarlet you get a choice of a stack of 40 thingies or a few boxes with a potential drop. If you save enough thingies you definitely get the shoulders, so if you don’t like rng you go that route, whereas people who don’t mind random can go for the box reward.
