Invasions constantly fail now due to AFKers
This was only my 2nd day and my maps were only 3/7 wins on my servers. Afkers contribute to failure, but the champion farmers are the problem. They zerg up and scale up events rather than separate and making a coordinated effort to finish events. They often don’t even attack the enemies to progress the waves, because there busy looting champs.
That said I am 7/13. I mostly get the full reward. So the invasion outcome might be meaningless. Although its nice to win.
I agree there seems to be a problem with completing the invasion successfully. I’m not sure if it’s just due to afkers, farmers, general lack of understanding about how to complete these efficiently, no organization … it’s just a big bunch of people running around for 45 min. I just did one and never saw Scarlet; so I don’t know what happened.
Scaling is the main issue. Events need to scale based on the amount of players attacking nearby enemies rather than the amount of players in proximity to an event. Then again, even if that happened to be the case we’d -still- have to deal with the countless greedy players deliberately ignoring events in order to farm champion enemies.
Maybe ANet needs to make the awards arrive for the champions only if the whole map event succeeds.
I have 9/13 and trying to get thru them as fast as possible because I’m afraid the farmers who have the achieves will take over on all the events soon.

I fail to see the problem. Other than the 1/day reward for killing Scarlet (2 rares), the difference between winning and losing is pretty small. You still get credit towards the achievements, and the loot and karma gained by farming 15+ champs in 45 min more than offsets the extra loot bags for success. How is farming champs more (or less) greedy than farming the end event?
I did five invasions tonight and all but one were successful. The failure wasn’t for lack of trying though and we were very close.

You don’t need to win for that achievement, just get credit for an ending (of an invasion, not single portal) on each map.
i Lost almost everything last night in the forge (thanks anet) so today i did 1 invasion and went full champ farming, even when aetherblades were done, we still did the remaining ones. I got so much loot, like 30 boxesfrom champs, 10 more different kind but both exotic. Lot better than winning the event, even tho we won that invasion, the end reward is what 10 boxes overall? 5 which you pick and are not even exotic i believe lol. Not worth it, is more profitable to farm than try to win the event
If you know you solve this easy, champs give loot ok fine but for winning the event to actually be profitable, give them more than what the champs drop, maybe special boxes with higher change to get exotics or precursor, but i mean real high change not those useless yellows or something like that. But seems like anet encourage the farming instead of winning the event so whatever,

I’m not sure this is true for all achievements. I know you still get loot, but I didn’t get credit for Vorpp’s achievement. I’m still at 2/5, so I’m not sure how I can get that if the event fails. I haven’t seen a clairification from Anet about all of this. If you know of one, please post a link. I’m still confused.
You do not get the achievement for a failed event. I keep track of every single invasions I went. You probably got lucky with a bug or something.
I’ve got achievements for failed invasions. Kept track of the maps and got 13/13.

I think there are a lot of bugs with it at the moment; it’s not just people not getting credit when they’re present for a failed event, but also when they succeed. I guess you just have to keep going until they patch it or you get credit properly.

Something like for every minute faster than 45 you will receive an extra chest.
I rescind my previous statement. You do get achievement even for failing an event, however according to Dev you need to tag a champion twisted nightmare. Which means I’m at 12/13 and I have no idea which map I’m missing. Throws my invasion note away
The first 2 or so days of this update I saw the map regularly losing an invasion. The last few days however, have been a 100% win scenario, even with zergs farming the hell out of champions.
You still get credit for the achievement if the event fails…
Funfact: You generally get better rewards for farming the champions spawned by the event, then actually finishing the event.
Good job there a-net.
The groups I had the misfortune to be in only run to areas with champs. Seems some even have spotters scouting out each spawn, and reporting back. The LS events are an EPIC FAIL!!!
Good thing, every champ drops Exotics and rares, each and every time. Bad thing is they are exotic/rare packages, and the stuff inside is total crap.

What you’re tired of jumping through hoops to gain any ground? You’d prefer to run in mindless groups and play follow the leader? And do it all for little or no reward, well Farm Wars 2 is your game.

Some players inventory gets full fast. So they have to stop to sell and deposit items.

You knew what you were getting into. With no gear grind there is only a cosmetic grind, which is of course one of gold.
So far I’ve only seen one invasion fail, and I’m pretty sure that was mostly because we were on the tail end of the overflows or something and just didn’t have any people.
The funny part is that in the one failure I had, no one was complaining about “Aetherblade Farmers” and such. We all just worked together and got as far as we could. On the other hand, all the successes I’ve had (which is…lots? I dunno) were overrun by people screaming at everyone else for being so fail, doing it wrong, sucking so badly they should uninstall, all the usual stuff.
I’ve only seen one fail due to people farming. The other fails were due to:
-Laziness (Oh it’s an overflow lol, why try?)
-Laziness (REZ PLZ, take the time to destroy all these enemies even though I’m literally next to a WP and the red circle is gone)
-Laziness (We’re just gonna follow the commander tag and not bother to see where there are actual mobs)
-Laziness (Why bother to organize? Zergfest 2)
-Ragequitters (YOU all stink! This server stinks! I’m transferring! I’m gonna start a pointless argument!)
-Clueless participants with no one willing to take charge and educate them on how the event works (IT’S SCARLET! EVERYONE ATTACK! Oh why did she leave? Where do I go now?)
Players don’t get how this event works, a lot don’t have map completion and few commanders actually lead… and people are going to blame those who farm Aethers for a bit?
Forever known as “that slow guardian who can’t jump worth crap”.
The invasion meta event fails (or almost fails), in-part, because a ton of the events spawn champions that persist after the event has completed. Because of champion loot bags, players stay to slay the (now) irrelevant champion instead of moving on which wastes valuable time. Champions can keep players occupied for over a minute after the event that spawned them has ended which delays the completion of other events.

Actually I expected GW1’s philosophy to carry over. Oh wait.. it did GW1 was Greed wars. LOL WOW is laughing so hard, they were actually worried about this game being their undoing.

Depends on the type of champions. Champion nightmares are still relevant but it might not be efficient.
I’ve only had one successful event out of 6. The problem with these things is if you come in late, even a couple days, they are already slowing down and people have moved on to other things.
I don’t know, I’m 3 for 4. Seems to be a matter of people not knowing what to kill or not realizing that a portal has despawned.
I have beaten Scalet over 5 times. I guess its is server problem
most failures I’ve seen on TC have been tied to people sticking around completed portals for the champ loot rather than moving to the next event to close it.
This and farmer are simply killing it

Considering GW2 makes the same amount as WoW per month, and it is NCSofts second most valuable product (making only around a quarter of the their income) vs Acti/Blizz’s only major income product…. I think they might still be a little worried.
Serves y’all right. Hope this farming train derails straight into the Sea

ACtually in guild wars 1 it was worst. People use to farm fall more the only difference is YOU were not aware of it. It is more apparent now due to the official forums and the open world, but it was far worst in guild wars 1. That is all. The whole structure was pretty much farm farm farm. At some point you could barely compete in the market.
tinted glasses people. With that said, Arenanet needs to fix the champs it cannot be spawning so many champs. Make more LT and bump up the rewards for success and punish failure.
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.
First it was farmers. Now it’s afkers!?
Man, people will try so hard to find something to complain about if their e-feelings are hurt in the slightest.
As someone has said before: the mere fact that legendary weapons exists in this game is hard undeniable unarguable fact that A-net endorses farming.
6 out of 7 here. Only failure I saw was, honestly, due to a lack of bodies in the overflow.
Nanuchka, norn mesmer: “BOOZEAHOL!”
Tarnished Coast – Still Here, El Guapo!
I haven’t had any trouble getting my 13/13 or my vorrp 5/5. I have to agree with Uruz that lack of people in the overflows has been the main reason they fail, at least in my experience.
1. Failure gives a slightly reduced reward, one that you would have made up for if you joined the champ farming
2. Events are slowed down by scaling caused by zergs. Up until a certain point more AFKers = smaller zergs = quicker events
3. You only need to win once to have all of the achievements
Its the same deal as people who champion farm.
People who are taking up slots on a map while not actually participating to beat the event. ANet seems to not want to punish champ farming or something because even for a fail you still get the reward and it even counts towards the achievement.
And now, people just afk. Deal with both, or leave both alone.
You get literally nothing for beating the the event,
just find a good farming group and enjoy the awesome loot
But I prefer winning over mindless looting.
Mindless? Obviously we are playing two different games. Those AB strikers… Even in a big Zerg there are aoe circles everywhere and trying to avoid them while tagging all you can is hardly mindless. Have to stay on your toes dodging this way and that. Maybe you’re playing a staff guardian but I’m playing a trapper ranger with a handicapped AI pet. So, yeah. Try a trapper build ranger and maybe you’ll change your mind on it being mindless, but who am I kidding? It’s the Internet and you’ll continue to QQ about farmers.

Yeah I play trapper ranger.
I call it “Rally Tanking.”
I’m pretty irritated with this event. If they are going to make events that last an hour long, they need to be more careful about how easily they are failing now…I don’t have time to keep spending entire hours on failed events. I did two in a row yesterday that failed and I’m pretty sick of it.

Why exactly do you want it to win? Did you not get “Scarlet Scrambler” yet?

Pfff I have a Staff Guardian and I don’t get to do the mindless part either. Constantly avoiding aoe circles, looking out for fallen players who need healing, making certain to tag and hit what I can or try to draw enemies away from single players.. etc etc. Lots of dodging, running about and being aware of surroundings.

@Aerlen Well said, and dead on. #2 on your list I have seen so many times. It’s insane. people are a quarter inch away from a wp and want a res. I do not expect someone to res me if I’m near a wp. and I do not bother to res them if they are completely down. And why people can not read the top corner of their screen is beyond me. It cleary says exactly what to do.
