Q:
Is a champion clockwork required?
A:
The way I understand it you have to kill minions (meaning anything coming out of a portal) and be present when the invasion ends (whether you get to scarlet or not) for it to count for the achievement .
Aetherblade and molten count towards the invasion progression, but not towards the achievement, if you kill only those it won’t count for the achievement even if you kill scarlet at the end of the invasion.
Resurrected clockwork mobs won’t count either (the ones created from the corpses of previous clockwork mobs), so if you happen to just kill them (rare, I’d think) won’t count for achievement either, which is why in the dev post it was recommended to kill at least one clockwork champion for the achievement, as you know for sure they’re spawned mobs and not resurrected ones.
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
Where did you get this idea? I thought being on the map completes the invasion ap’s. I assume you are talking about the 13/13 maps one?
being in the zone should be enough.
tagging a few events definitely won’t hurt – you have to be there up to 45 minutes, if you don’t actively avoid all events, you will get to participate in every sort of invasion event, making this a moot point.
what does make maps not count though is crashing, switching characters or any other action leading to you leaving and reentering the zone. I did miss 1 map and had to redo it because the game crashed midway through it.
always check if the current map has counted towards your achievement and if so note the map down
The only watchwork stuff I’ve seen attain champion rank was Nightmares (the tall ones). I don’t think the others ever get past silver.
No, a champion is not required. The dev just said that champs always spawn from the portals, so always count toward the event. You still have to tag other little enemies from the portal though, not from remains.
Thank you for your answers. You have cleared up my confusion about the champion.
