Is that...Regret in Scarlet's Voice?
Sylvari do not have a ‘childhood’.
Well she’s sylvari so she doesn’t have a childhood, but I get your point. I took it as, “You should be happy now because soon you’re going to find it very difficult to be happy at all.”
She said after that because you wont be happy soon, basically enjoy your victory because you wont have another one
Naw, that could potentially make the character more than a 1-dimensional being. We can’t have that happening. But seriously, it didn’t sound like some kind of regret to me at all.
Maybe she remembered she forgot to turn off the iron.
I think she was just emphasizing her threat when she talks to you and how you jumped to the top of her list.
I’ve done the playhouse many times now, and this line of dialogue has stuck out for me too. I didn’t get the “childhood memory” vibe that you suggest, but it does sound like there’s some hidden meaning. At least I hope its that and not just bad writing.
For some reason I have the image of her at one point falling in love with Trahearne…
Can you image Trahearne trying to get Scarlet to turn a new leaf? Maybe Scarlet fell in love with Trahearne at one point and then was left to wilt when Trahearne had to play hero.
Na who am I kidding, that would be kinda lame…
Laspo Yorick – Mesmer
Samson Longshanks – Warrior
For some reason I have the image of her at one point falling in love with Trahearne…
Oooh that would explain a lot. She met Trehearne and.. well.. now she is insane.
Maybe she remembered she forgot to turn off the iron.
Or she regrets we turned off her stove.
At the end of the playhouse mission, Scarlet says something like “You should be happy”. And then she goes quiet all of a sudden and says very seriously “No: you should be happy” in a very regretful reminiscing way.
Then suddenly she snaps out of it and says “So…be happy!”. But it seemed that just for a moment, Scarlet was remembering some sad incident or time in her past. Her childhood maybe when she was happy and carefree…and then something happened to her to strip that away?
Yeah yeah, I’m reading way too much into this. But what the hell right?
Edit: Well apparently sylvari don’t have “childhoods”. I still wonder if she was “born” like this right from the start, or did something happen to her to make it so…
Could be an clue to an underlying psychological problem. Dual personality perhaps? In any case, while cliche, mad genius villains with mental issues are always the most interesting (i.e. see Joker from most recent Batman movie).
